Danby Compact Refrigerator, 1.8 cu ft, Black DAR017A2BDD - 1 Each

Just received this compact refrigerator. I researched 'best and most dependable brands' and this was listed in the top three. It arrived very quickly and was well-packaged so there was no damage to the fridge. It is a perfect fit for what I have in mind. Wish I could have gotten it in silver, but that was not an option. I hope it lasts for many years since I bought it for my son who is in a nursing home.

This little mini refrigerator works great in a small office space, garage, or apartment where space is limited. Really keeps beverages cold even in hot weather reaching 100F plus outside and the motor is ultra quiet, you wouldn't know it's on, works with just a trickle of electricity that won't dim the lights! This mini-fridge has space for a 6-pk of 12oz cans, one large 2ltr bottle and 6-regular bottles of water and room left for your lunch bag. Has no inside light and the door can be changed to either side for ease of opening. Looks great and is a reliable well made product that I highly recommend. I really like that this fridge is a fridge only no freezer. It's at work under my desk and the size is perfect and it's quiet. Holds my coffee cream, lunch, a few sodas, water and yogurt. BUT... on the highest setting, it just doesn't get cold enough. It keeps my drinks and food cool enough to not spoil, but nothing is really "cold."

Ok, so I've had this fridge for 1 1/2 months. It is keeping my 6 11oz Vega protein drinks[in door], 4 18oz ice tea bottles [on inside bottom] and 8 Triple Zero yogurts [4 on mid shelf/4 on top shelf] nice and cold. I'm the only person in my 18x24 office and it sits in the corner on the other side of U shaped desk. It does make a noise that is noticeable if you're listening for it but not near as loud as the dehumidifier that sits near it or the Xerox Phaser printer cycling that sits directly behind me. It easily becomes one of background noises that you don't even notice. It keeps everything nice and cold (especially my protein drinks and I probably only have it set at 2/3 temp. Arrived in time and in expected shape (no dings, scratches, dents). Custodians want to put a tray under it in the event of a leak, but all's been ok so far (sitting on very short pile office carpet). I'm very glad I made this purchase so I can have my food items as scheduled when my bosses office door is closed, not allowing access to our kitchen (larger fridge).

Doesn't get very cold, low around 40°. Has been running around 1 year with no issues.

I ordered this from OJ Commerce on 03/09/2018. My refrigerator arrived early. It was very well packaged. I waited for awhile to post a review because I wanted to give it time to see if it worked well. It is very quiet (it does make a little bit of noise when it cycles on, but every refrigerator does, and it is not very loud). It keeps my beverages, sauces, and meats very cold. The interior is extremely well designed and the shelves and door slots are very sturdy! I am extremely happy with my Danby 1.7cuft compact refrigerator. I showed it to my son and he is seriously considering purchasing one too. All of my family and friends are very impressed with the design and workmanship, as am I. Excellent compact fridge that I would highly recommend.

I have a second job, and this 1.7 cu ft compact fridge without the freezer is perfect for my part-time, one person office. I mainly wanted space to hold lunch, milk, water and this size is perfect for my purposes, with room for additional items. If more than one person used my office, I would have opted for one of the larger sizes.The interior door storage can hold cans/bottles, a half gallon of milk or juice, and the top of the fridge is made of a scratch resistant surface perfect for holding my Keurig or another heavier electronic item.Caveat with this fridge is that the 18-month warranty is voided if used in an outside kitchen or garage since these are apparently not designed for outside installation, or anywhere not temperature controlled, such as carports or porches.Overall, perfect for my purposes and works great with a nice temperature control setting. This model would also be great for a dorm room.

It was great for about a month, then it gradually stopped cooling until it completely stopped. I purchased this on Prime day because it was rather cheap. When I first got it, it would eventually freeze just about everything I put in it, regardless of the thermostat position. The thermostat is on the back of the unit, so if you are going to put it somewhere that you will not be able to easily access the back of the unit, it will be a problem. The can holder was very nice and would provide cold drinks fairly quickly. It had no problem cooling 2 liter bottles that fit nicely in the door. After a few weeks, it stopped freezing everything, and began to cool perfectly. I thought this meant it was working properly, but I believe it had an internal coolant leak. After about a week of perfect cooling, I noticed that it was not cooling anything quite as much as it once did. I tried turning the thermostat to the coolest position, but that did not do much. After another week, it completely stopped cooling. I called Danby, and they told me that it was not worth fixing. They instructed me to take pictures of the unit as it is, then cut the cord and tear off a bar code on the back and send them pictures of that. I did that back on November 3rd and I am still waiting on a refund check as of November 22nd.PROS+ The can holder is nice+ The door holds 2 liters nicely+ Cools great when it cools+ Fairly light+ Is compressor based, so it actually cools (when it cools)Cons- Thermostat is on the back of the outside of the unit, making it somewhat difficult to get to- Gradually stopped cooling until it became a black box of worthlessness about 1.5 months after I purchased it- "Not worth fixing" - Straight from a Danby Customer representative- I get to stare at a black box of worthlessness with a chopped off cord until Danby gets around to sending me a checkI emailed them in the middle of January, asking about the status of my refund. They told me that it had been in the mail since December 21st. It finally arrived at the tail end of January.

A year later and this fridge/freezer runs amazing. It fits alot and stays cool 24/7. Now keep this in mind there is an adjuster on the back of the fridge which you can adjust the temperature, don't turn that sucker to full or even half way unless u want a Antarctica freezer which will explode all your soda and ruin your food at 3 am. I recommend a tad bit adjusted from "0" unless you are looking for a freezer. Aside from all of that its decent on sound it can get pretty loud, but that lasts only 10 minutes then it stops and its quiet for an hour or so.

I am very happy I purchased this (and I don't say that about everything). For its size, there is very good use of space. I keep it under my desk at work so I can eat the same healthy foods at work that I do at home. I simply stock up every Monday and good to go for the week. The unit is quiet and cools nicely. I highly recommend for this type of application.Pros:- Inside layout is a great use of space (especially if you do not need a freezer section)- Quiet- Inconspicuous under my desk (black colour) at work where many seem to want to complain about things ... lol.- Price- Flat back design- Integrated handle- Flat top work surface (though I do not use this)Cons:- temp adjustment is on back so I have to pull unit from under my desk to adjustI hope you find this review helpful in making a purchase decision.

I bought this for a 2 week boating trip. Our boat is too small to have a permanently mounted fridge. I refuse to ever try one of those Kookaton electronic coolers again. They're nothing but junk. Anyway...this fridge ran off my 1000 watt power inverter just fine. I'd have given it 5 stars, but as soon as I took it out of the box and started carrying it down to the boat, something was rattling around loose in the back of it. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to mess around with it. I set it on the floor of the boat behind the seat and only ran is when the boat was running. I set the temperature as low as it would go, and it even froze a package of sandwich meat I had jammed up in the top left corner. Other than whatever was rattling around loose in the back, it turned out perfect.

Works great, super quiet, compact, fits perfectly for our space. I would highly recommend buying it! Cheap to use all year round!

This fridge has been really great! It's a perfect size and works well. It's being used on a desk now but could easily be used in other places as well. I'd definitely buy it again.
