This may be good as a basic educational project if one wants to learn about what goes into a simple electro-mechanical driven wired remote control device. However if one is hoping for a functional device that can pick something up other than a ping pong ball then one is likely to be disappointed. Also be aware that it requires a lot of patience in putting together as practically nothing other than the motors are pre-assembled, not even the remote control or gear boxes. There are three variations of a remote control device one can build, but one must choose which before building because the parts must be custom cut by the user while assembling which prevents them from being used over again to build another variation. I purchased this for my daughter's Robocross team that was competing in their middle school Science Olympiad. They needed to build a remote controlled device that would pick up several objects from pennies to tennis balls and deposit them in specific locations within a 3 minute time window. After 3 days of assembly this could pick up a ping pong ball, but that was about it. Perhaps with more time, additional parts and creative engineering it could have been made to compete, but without that it was not ready for prime time and was not used.

This is a fun project with a real and functional outcome. The parts are of good quality and fit well together.

Very very complex assembly. Not for 9 year old, more like 14-16 who are into model making.

小学校５、６年の息子に購入しました。ただ、あまり工作などをしたことがない子供達には難しかった様ですほぼ、親が作る羽目に・・・。自分が子供のころ工作が好きだったので、子供たちも大丈夫だろうと思っていたのですが大誤算で兄弟それぞれに購入したので、2個目は途中で止まっています。工作が好きなら、1台は作ってみても面白いと思います。作成途中のもう一台は、バルサ板でも買って、戦車などの側を作って被せてみようかと思っています。うちの子供だけなのかどうか、最近の子供は自分で遊びを作ることが苦手なのか、ただ興味が無かったのかほぼ、親が楽しむことになりそうな・・・・・

上の息子（11歳）のために購入しました。子供が苦労して作ったのですが、腕の部分の操作の自由度はかなり低く、また走行中絶妙な角度で腕を止めないと地面に擦ってしまい走行の邪魔になります。作る苦労をしるために一定の効果はありましたが、想像と異なる動きに達成感は低かったようです。。。。残念。

息子と一緒に作り始めて、6時間くらいかかりました。説明書通りに作っていって、作っている最中は、複雑すぎてどう動くのか想像がつきませんでしたが、完成して動く様子は感動的です。さすが、タミヤ ！いいもの作っています。

工作が苦手な子供のために購入。プラモデルと違ってこういうのが苦手な子供には難しかったみたいです。好きな子は低学年でもでき、苦手な子は高学年でも無理といった感じでしょうか
