The LitRPG fantasy smash hit phenomenon and New York Times bestseller, DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL , is now a graphic novel for the very first time! The Apocalypse WILL be televised! You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Getting stuck on a sadistic alien game show with her cat. Join Carl and Princess Donut as they try to survive the end of the world — or just get to the next level of a trap-filled fantasy dungeon. With vibrant art done by Laurel Pursuit to bring action-packed battles to life, join as Carl fights his way through the dungeon in heart-speckled underwear. And of course, the grizzly scenes are only balanced with the incredibly fluffy, wide-eyed stare of its main character, Princess Donut. A ton of heart and effort was poured in creating a series with a script and style that would both appeal to WEBTOON readers and also lovers of DCC, all while consulting author Matt Dinniman the entire way about character designs, story, - EVERYTHING! We couldn’t resist taking the apocalyptic awesomeness of the DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL WEBTOON and adapting it into the FIRST EVER graphic novel series! Welcome, Crawler. Welcome to the Dungeon. Survival is optional. Keeping the viewers entertained is not. This volume collects episodes 1-13 of the WEBTOON edition. NEW YORK TIMES Top 2 Bestseller! USA TODAY Top 5 Overall Bestseller! Praise for DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL, Vol. 1 (WEBTOON Graphic Novel) : "...incredibly entertaining" -- Screenrant "...one of the most unique new stories on Webtoon" -- Screenrant Dungeon Crawler Carl ranked #1 best new series on WEBTOON by Screenrant Praise for DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL (eBook/Print): “Fresh. Creative. Hilarious. I'm obsessed…Princess Donut is my queen.” – Actor, producer and New York Times bestselling author Felicia Day "I don't always say nice things about a book just because the writer has compromising pictures of me engaging in some very complicated international crimes, but when I do, I say them about Matt Dinniman's Dungeon Crawler Carl! Also, this series has no goddamn business burying so much depth and emotion and complexity under its bawdy, gory surface, but it does so anyway. What a wild-ass and unexpected delight." – New York Times bestselling author Scott Lynch “[A] comically cosmic adventure series…often laugh-out-loud funny…Grind your way to dungeon mastery alongside Carl and Princess Donut.” – The Wall Street Journal "This is the book for anyone who ever wondered what it would be like to be a role player in a game with the best game master ever. Also for anyone who wants to read a good book. Or maybe anyone who has been outside at night—in their underwear—looking for their cat and wondering 'What's the worst thing that could happen?' Once you start, you won't put it down." - Patricia Briggs, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Mercy Thompson series “One of the most bananapants, funny, inventive books I have read in a while." - Book Riot "If there's a better LitRPG than Dungeon Crawler Carl, I haven't read it." - Travis Deverell a.k.a. Shirtaloon, author of He Who Fights With Monsters “Dungeon Crawler Carl is just one big smile all the way through. Put on your best pair of boxer shorts and sit back for a truly fun and enjoyable read.”— New York Times bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson “ Dungeon Crawler Carl is the best start to a series I’ve read this year. I wish I’d tried it sooner.” – Will Wight, author of the Cradle series “To describe the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, and the first book in particular, one must blend the darkest, grittiest science fiction with the humour of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It mixes fun, whimsical absurdity, and serious, dark themes with dire consequences…it is so spectacularly good that I cannot recommend it high enough.” - Grimdark Magazine “Dinniman’s Douglas-Adams-but-playing-D&D romp was so much fun that I immediately went out and got the next two books…genuinely joyful.” – LitHub.com Review: RPG 5 stars - Entertaining. Great relationship between the cat and Carl. Artwork is awesome, except some of the pictures are too close to the wedge of the book, and some of the dialog is too small and faint to read. Production error? Review: Beautiful rendition of Dungeon Crawler Carl - This highly anticipated book is soooooo good. I love the Dungeon Crawler Carl series and the graphic novel is a great rendition of the first book. Really wonderful visual touches and makes me appreciate the story even more.

⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
This is the epic graphic novel adaptation of the LitRPG series Dungeon Crawler Carl. This volume collects WEBTOON episodes 1 through 14. The planet has been turned into a televised dungeon crawl by the alien corporation Borant. Carl must try to survive along with his ex-girlfriend’s cat Donut, all while wearing no shoes and running around in his underpants. I really enjoyed this volume. I read some of it on WEBTOON when it originally released, as I’m a huge Dungeon Crawler Carl fan, but I had trouble with the format, and reading it as a serial just wasn’t really my thing. I think having it in this graphic novel format made me enjoy it a lot more because I could just read straight through. It follows the book pretty closely. I definitely think I enjoyed it more having already read the books and listened to the audiobooks, but it might also be a good starting point for someone who isn’t into those formats. Manga isn’t really my style aesthetically, but I still enjoyed the illustrations. The volume ends pretty early on Floor One, so I’m excited to see what happens next in the next volume which is scheduled to release in October 2026. If you know the story you need this visual!
If you love the original books, you need this. Dungeon Crawler Carl is the first series I've ever read straight through. I started in March '26 and caught up completely by May. The story is just that good. This graphic novel adaptation is brilliant because it perfectly captures the chaos and gives amazing, accurate visuals to the delightful characters we already know, love and hate! Bring on Volume 2!

DCC in full color
I loved seeing the world of DCC come to life! I'm not the type of reader that gets brain movies, so it was so much fun seeing the story come to life! I think this adaption was done fantastically and the art is stunning! I look forward to future volumes. I know that these books are chonky and they're slam packed full of details, but this volume only makes it up to about the 1/3 point of the first book. I'm not sure if they're planning to adapt the entire series, but phew that's going to be a hefty collection.

Got for my son
I love this book series and wanted to let my son read it. He's not a big reader unless it's Mangas or graphic novels. So when I found this, I was super excited! He is a big gamer and told him about when I was reading the actual book, well listening because the audio book is to die for!!! It's so amazing and Jeff Hayes is phenomenal!!! Any who he finished it in less than 2 hours and loved it. Some things have been taken out, but that's ok. I told him he could now listen to my audio book for it! I'm so excited for this journey with my son. My husband also said he wanted to read it now!!!!!! At any rate I highly highly recommend

Beautiful artwork, stays true to the story, characters, and action of the book
It's essentially a beautifully done story board of the first 13 chapters of the first book and that works perfectly. It covers events in enough detail that you don't feel like they left anything significant out, and that's hard to do in a graphic novel of a book. It works as either a standalone graphic novel or as a complement to the book. (But seriously read the books too, and read them first if you can - you'll enjoy the graphic novel a lot more) As a number of people have mentioned, the format is small and some of the display screens show are hard to read. Likely they did this for monetary reasons - so the books wouldn't be too expensive the first run, and that they can sell a larger format later to try to get us to pay for it twice. Some people have complained that Carl isn't depicted as the 'roided up hulk like he is on some of the book covers. In the graphic novel he seems younger and has a more average build. That didn't bother me. It fits the art style, and although described as big in the book (6 ft. 3 in, 230), that's not his defining characteristic and it isn't mentioned that much.

Excellent adaptation
Some details from the book on which this graphic novel is based are lost, but I think it’s the best possible adaptation. The artwork is very appealing and dynamic. I recommend it to everyone, both those who have read and loved the book and those who want to get into the series but prefer a comic book to the novel.
