As long as it is rated for steel wire. It will usually have a size limit, but the steel leader wire I use is well below any limit I have seen. When I use this wire for my train car parts, such as grab irons, I trim it on the inside with a flush cutting one. Hope this helps. **Q: What pound test is the LC3** A: Good Question, I can't find anything on the package that tells you the pound but the customer questions says it's 30 pounds. My guess it that 30 pounds is correct. I would not use anything heavier for kingfish or other size smaller fish. **Q: What is the finish of this wire?
