Garmin GPSMAP 541s 5-Inch Waterproof Marine GPS and Chartplotter with Sounder (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Hands down the best money I put into my boat. Great when you travel and even when you are in areas you know. Easy to use and durable. I like that I can pack it up and keep it inside rather than being hard mounted. All the cables and hardware is top of the line. I have a 21 foot boat I use for pleasure and trailer it to different areas of the keys all the time. The loaded maps are better than you could imagine and I had no problem navigating at night. This is exactly what you need if you aren't out to impress someone with a large screen hard mount. This unit does it all.

First time using was pretty straight forward. I'm not much for reading to figure how to make things operate. The chart map info is good enough without buying a chip for the area I'm in. Shows pretty good detail of what's around you. The sounder works good but haven't got it hooked up permanently. Thank You gary

great graphics and pretty self explanatory. The gps and sonar are great but if you are most interested in fish-finder mode this is probably not the unit you are looking for.

I have been FIGHTING this thing for 13 months now. It has been the WORST GPS Chartplotter I have EVER used, and have used literally dozens both personally and professionally. The depth function is horrible. When I say horrible it locks up and "freezes" on a depth and doesn't "un-freeze." EVER. Unless you restart it. I have replaced the transducer from my own pocket, updated software, all to no avail. HUGE disappointment. Has really almost broken me from Garmin. Went on a two day trip this weekend and was severely limited due to inability to read depths. I hope they make it right (exchange my unit) but know I will probably have to change plotters.

hello, What I was told it had and what it doesn't have is two different things. Lie to make a sale. Garmin is done with ME.

I bought this from the GPS Store,Out of the box I had issues with this unit and the seller refused to take it back nor exchange.,was able to resolve the problem with the help of Garmin technecal support.I downloaded the correct software.

The best I have ever owned and I have owned not less than 4 other sonar units (Humingbird). The detail and sensativity areunparalleled. The preloaded maps are way more than I expected for accuracy and detail. The display is sharp and smooth asit charts a course, I will never use any other brand again and I would highly recomend this unit to anyone thinking of buying acombonation sonar / GPS for their boat as I really do love it!

First Garmin I have owned and it is great. So easy to operate and navigate. Used it in 2 different areas in the state that I have not been to before and it got me there and back with no problems. Now, I just wish it would help me catch more fish.
