Sizzix 660470 Chrome Precision Base Plate for Intricate Thinlits, multi-colour

The Chrome Precision Plate did not include the Big Shot Switch on its list of compatible machines so, before purchase, I decided to 'Ask a Question'. Several very helpful people, with 1st hand experience, quickly responded enabling me to buy with confidence.I have not owned this item for long so this review is very much a first impression.It looks and feels like a quality item - it is heavier than I expected and highly polished - it is not flexible.I used it for some tiny, fiddly dies and passed it through my machine twice (forward and back) and the cut was perfect.Next, I tried a very large ornate butterfly that, having only used it twice, would no longer cut, no matter how I tried. Once more it cut perfectly. It is such a lovely die that I am looking forward to using it frequently.The dies have marked the Chrome base Plate but only as a very fine shallow etching line - not the deep scores that limit the life of the transparent plates.The size of the Chrome Plate is compatible with the smaller Sizzix cutting plates.I am now looking forward to getting some of the finer filigree dies for my card designs.Update on the above review - - - - - -I am now more experienced with this Chrome Precision Base Plate and I love it - it is in constant use, and because it never bends, even difficult dies cut evenly and cleanly.My transparent plates are lasting for longer making a very good saving.Additionally, I place a small square cut from a packing foam sheet -between the die and the transparent plate which further minimizes score lines, so all is goodI can very warmly recommend this chrome plate - I would not be without it now.I think I should confess that I was spending far more than I wanted to in replacing the transparent plates ( my Big Shot is in constant use) and I was beginning to worry about it - at least I can now breathe a sigh of relief and no longer feel the need to restrict my crafting.

I have loved using this new , magnetic, chrome, cutting plate.It replaces the bottom acrylic plate in a die and card sandwich.Depending on the quality, and/or the sharpness of the die it cuts in one pass.It also depends onA very intricate die, I pass through twice, but that’s just me, I like to be sure thatthe tiny pieces are going to pop out easily.This plate has increased my confidence in die cutting immensely.It love that on the reverse it shows how to use with 2D and 3D embossing folders ineasy to read text as well as simple to interpret visuals.My daughter, who has a learning disability and previously struggled and gave up die cuttingusing this ‘ grown up’ machine and only used a mini machine and was restricted to very small projects.Now, with this new plate, and the ease of cutting it gives her, she has the freedom to explore thelarge projects that she has had in mind fo r some time.In fact, she has now purchased her own Sizzix die cutting machine, with a side order or this chrome,magnetic plate, which is a permanent fixture on her desk.She doesn’t complains of bored anymore!I would recommend this cutting plate to as a useful addition to anyone’s die cutting stash.

This is so good. All my intricate dies have been given another chance with this plate. The ease of cutting with one run through is amazing. You will not be disappointed. I have used this a lot and there is not a mark on it, so no extra lines on my cut (I hate it when that happens)I have not had any problems with my die's breaking at all. My only wish is that they would do one larger so that it fits my plus machine. I need it

I have used this only a few times so far but it's great for cutting dies on the first pass and no marks are visible on the plate so will extend the life of the standard plates, the only thing I was disappointed with was the size, there wasn't any sizing mentioned in the description but this is really only for the small machines no good if you have big dies.

Not used yet but from all the hype I think it will be brilliant

This is the most brilliant bit of kit.All my thin dies cut perfectly when using this,whereas before,despite shimming & turning some took three or more passes to be fully cut. With this precision plate it works first time every time. Can’t praise it enough. Fantastic.Wish I had bought one earlier.Well worth the money.

Finally I can get all the intricate designs to cut perfectly. This should come as part of the essential kit for the sizzix machines!

I really liked this plate. No unwanted marks on my paper as you would have with cutting platesI came on here to report that the plate has separated from it's backing. But unfortunately have just missed the 2 year window for support.
