Saves using a Stanley knife and risk slicing your fingers, or cutting too deep and slicing into the inner wires. It’s simple to use, well made and should last a long time. To use: put your middle finger through the large hole in the bottom, then with your thumb on one side and you index finger on the other, push upwards towards the blade hole. The more you push, the bigger the hole gets for the flex to go through. The elastic band is surprisingly strong when opening. Once you have opened the blade hole and positioned where you want to strip the outer sheathing to, slowly release the elastic band pressure and the blade bites into the outer cable. Look at the direction arrows (very important) for outer sheathing rotate the tool for one rotation clockwise (in direction of the MAX arrow). Repeat for inner wires, but rotate anticlockwise this time (in direction of the MIN arrow) and again only for one rotation of the tool. The golden rules when using this tool. 1, observe the direction arrows to show which way to turn, clockwise MAX for stripping outer sheathing and anticlockwise MIN to strip inner wires. 2, rotate the tool once only, for 360 Degrees. If you rotate the tool more than once, 360 Degrees, you risk cutting too deep and cutting into the inner wires. It is a brilliant little tool, but you must use it correctly. Update: just dropped 2 stars . Just tried it on 3 core 0.5mm and although it cut perfectly through the outer sheathing it didn’t cut the small diameter inner wires. The blade (at rest) has a gap large enough for the wires to slip through without being cut. For larger diameter wire it is perfect. I suppose if the (at rest) gap was made small enough to cut the finer wires it would cut too deep into the larger ones. A manufacturing compromise ?. Still a good tool though. 2nd update: I ordered another one of these that arrived today, so I tried it on the thinner wire and it worked fine. I noticed the (at rest) blade gap to be slightly smaller than the fist one I used. The blade being set slightly higher (smaller gap) allowed the 2nd tool to cut the thinner wire that the first tool could not. This shows a quality control issue at manufacture. If you purchase one I suggest you try it on small dia inner wire first, to see if it is working correctly. There is a noticeable difference in the blade gap on the two I have. My other strippers struggled to cut the outer sheaf without also nicking the inner cables. To be fair one of my strippers is meant to be for electrical cable. However one spin of this on "minimum cut" setting and it did enough to safely pull the outer sheaf off with the inner cables intact. Be very careful not to spin it more than once though!
