I bought this for one purpose - to cut out shapes in velcro, and so far, that's all I've used it for. Works great for that!! I have a Nymo Labs NBX 5040, and wanted to buy the Nymo Labs laser that would be a direct fit for my CNC router. Since the Nymo Labs laser was sold out - I figured I'd take a chance on this one. Now this is my first laser, so I don't know much about them. I will say this, it took a little fabrication to attach it to my CNC router No big deal, I expected that. Once I got it on there, I brought my shape design into LaserGRBL and sent it to the laser - after fooling around with the power settings it worked GREAT!! So much easier than cutting 100 pieces of velcro with an Xacto knife. Two things to note - my CNC router had a place to plug a laser in, but it didn't work at first. Quick look at the wiring diagrams and I realized two wires were opposite from the way my CNC router is wired. Easy fix. I was able to un pin the 2 wires from the connector on the laser and switch them. The eye shield is cracked. As this is a safety item I reached out to Amazon to see if just the shield could be replaced but it cannot. I didn't want to hassle with the return so I will super glue the crack to hold it together. Not enough of a big deal to knock it down a star but wish I could have replaced just the shield.

I originally had a 2.5mW laser cutter which I purchased ~5 years ago from Amazon. The challenges I had with that unit was the optical power output was significantly lower, accordingly, I could barely cut 0.100" Pinewood with a 3 passes on 250-300 mm/min. I can now cut 0.100" pinewood with 1 pass at 380-400 mm/min with air assist at the moment. Not only mechanically replacing the laser head is easy (ie/ mounting, etc.) the electrical wiring transitioned over from the older laser cutter as did the power supply. The only issue I have is that the laser head is rated 40W, but the optical output is 5.5W, which I, admittedly, did not know the difference when I first purchased it. However, with regards to all other diode laser heads in the market/on Amazon. The pricing, product, delivery condition, boxing, etc. is very fair and this product is a decent upgrade for a diode laser cutter.

Replacing original Atomstack laser head 40watt which finally bit the dust after 2.5 years. New one is more powerful then original. Works great for on around 100.00.

The documentation is really poor. Haven't tried it yet.
