Probably the easiest installation of a shower drain
5 stars all around; I actually didn't realize this drain had a push-to-connect setup for the drain pipe itself, but the instructions in the package made it clear and explained how to easily set that up. This was a nice surprise; no extra glue or fittings needed. Just push the pipe in from the bottom, use the little metal tool with a screw driver to tighten as the instructions say, and you're good to go.As far as installing the drain itself, I knew to cut an area larger than the 2 inch diameter so I could have plenty of room to work with. This was easy since it was very new installation. I just sat the tub in place, outlined the circle, picked the tub up and then cut a square around the circle about an inch wider than the circle. I sat the tub back down, secured it, then put the drain through. I went under the house and had plenty of room (because of the square I'd cut) to fully tighten the nut that secured this drain in place. Really, you barely need this to be any more than hand tightened. You then push your pipe into the opening and use the tools as instructed to tighten it into place. It was strange using no glue or caulk, but this thing works beautifully. A good shower drain may be something most people take for granted, but for a guy like myself that builds his own houses, it's nice to have products like this I can depend on.This brand is available in most hardware stores. Oddly enough, it is priced far LOWER here on Amazon than it is at any of the chain stores. I can't say this is the case for local hardware stores as I really didn't look, but if you usually shop in the big chain stores, save yourself the time and money, do a little planning ahead (or be patient enough to wait the few days for this to arrive), and purchase it here on Amazon.

Great product
Excellent product - installed easily and sealed to 2” ABS standpipe the first time using the provided “key” (tightened clockwise from top with large screwdriver in center key slot, expands seal to pipe). No sealant required to standpipe. Instructions say use silicon caulk between drain body and shower base -that works. Many plumbers say to use plumbers putty. With my experience either would work as joint surfaces are smooth/get drawn together well with large nut on underside. Note - Rubber and paper washer go on underside of base, rubber contacting base (accommodating relatively rough surface of shower base) and paper against nut to allow rotation to tighten. You may think rubber should go on top, between drain and shower base drain recess - not so

Great for Concrete Slab - No bonding glue needed
This is perfect for a slab installation because you don't have to glue anything to the PVC pipe (leaving you digging up concrete if you need to change it later). The interior is rubber and uses a compression fit around the PVC pipe. You do not need to prime/glue any parts to the PVC. You just remove the plastic nut on the bottom, insert it in the shower base from the top, and the attached the nut on the bottom and tighten. It then sits down on the PVC pipe and the rubber inside forms a compression seal around the pipe (no glue needed).I am creating a basement shower myself and dug up the existing slab, spliced into the main sewer, and then ran new PVC pipes. I wasn't sure how the shower drain would hookup or what to do. I couldn't find dimensions of this, so I had to order it to see. It fits a 2" PVC pipe and requires about 4" in diameter for the compression nut. It is about 2" tall. So leave some space around the PVC as it comes through the concrete. You need about 1" or so all the way around (for the 4" diameter) and it needs to be about 2 inches below the top of the concrete (assuming worst case that your shower is right on top and very thin). An easy way to do this is to buy a 4" PVC coupling circle and put it around the 2" PVC and use it to keep the concrete out around it. You can leave it in or remove it. I ended up putting concrete up to the pipe and then digging it out afterwards, but that can be risky (you don't want to damage the pipe). I'd recommend leaving a keep out area around it as described.I attached a photo of the instructions and some pictures with dimensions that I wish I had to help anyone else in a similar situation. It is shown attached to a DreamLine 36" shower model DL-6153-01CL. I haven't finished the install, but I see no reason it won't work once I trim down the PVC drain pipe and hook it all up. Good luck!P.S. In the photo showing the shower base, the rubber gasket is on the wrong side. I was just trying to show fit. As the instruction show, the rubber gaskets go underneath the shower base.

Good Concept, Arrived Without Tool
Like several other buyers mine arrived lacking the special tool used to tighten the interior nut. The only option Amazon had was return for refund, would have loved to just have the tool shipped and avoid the trip to UPS. There are video tutorials out there demonstrating how to tighten it using several common household tools cobbled together, but I have the feeling I haven't gotten it as tight as it needs to be
