Learning dog language a must
This should be a must read for all dog owners. As a dog trainer, this is my go to when handling fearful, or reactive dogs.

Best Canine book ever!
This is the third copy of this book that I’ve bought. I’ve given my other copies away to good friends with dogs that needed a bit of an insight into how their animals are “speaking” to them. This book is one I’ll always have in my home though. It’s just mandatory. It’s so insightful. It lets you read your dog to know what he’s thinking and feeling about the world around him, about you and other dogs too. You’ll be surprised what your Sweetie is trying to tell you! Definitely worth the money! Big book with good B/W photos of what to look for. Nice clear explanations of what you’re seeing and what to look for. A great book

Canine Body Language: A Photographic Guide Interpreting the Native Language of the Domestic Dog
This is one of the BEST books I think any dog owner can buy!Especially, if you have more than one dog of your own.I purchased it after recently acquiring a new puppy. That makes 3 dogs currently. One of the older dogs, gets along very well with the new puppy. The other older (male - an alpha dog thing I guess) has not gotten along so well with the pup. It is NOT the puppy's fault, rather, I think I have a jealous old dog who thinks he owns me, and is 'guarding' me from this new intruder...So, this book is full of photos with descriptions giving you guidelines of what the different body language (and some is VERY subtle) is telling not only you BUT, what it is telling the other dogs. Body language seems to be the key way a dog communicates with other dogs. Sometimes, we have to watch very closely to see a particular cue from the dogs themselves. These cues, are easily noticed by other dogs and can forewarn of impending actions that may be about to happen...such as snapping at the new puppy etc.I love my older dogs, BUT, they MUST co-exist with the new one(s) and this is one way to help insure that they do.Hopefully, old dog with learn to accept the pup.I also purchased a wire muzzle for old dog. I do mean business! Being that the breeds I have a large dogs, I do not want to come in between the old dog and pup at the biting end with out protection.I highly recommend this book for NICER aspects of dog ownership also.It is fun to decipher with help of the book the different meanings of the "play time" body language as well.Great for dog watchers, even if you do not own a dog, but just enjoy watching them (or if you were ever wondering about the dog coming towards you down the street while you are out jogging... and he is not with his owner OR on a leash :0 ).

A must have for all Dog owners and lovers
This book is a must have for all serious dog lovers and multiple dog/pet owners. It gives you first hand insight in reading and interpreting canine body language. This insight allows you to have an informed, educated view into your dogs' emotion and behavior. Such insight is invaluable for day to day training, interaction and communication between you and your dog. Perfect to help those who have multiple canine households or who take their dogs to dog parks or elsewhere where there is multiple canine interaction. It gives you the tools to know the difference between play and fighting as well as anticipate when a dangerous or potentially serious situation between dogs will occur. Will even help the reader themselves learn to avoid or foresee possible biting or attacks on humans from a strange dog.I have been a vet tech for over 6 years and even studied wolf body language and behavior for one week ....and still there was a wealth of knowledge contained in this book even I did not know. The author, a dog trainer herself, obviously invested lots of time and study on the subject. That she would share such pearls of wisdom with others is a true example of the depth of her love & dedication to canines. After reading this book, I put to use what I learned. It's not difficult, the concepts are simple. I am now able to calm my own dogs when they become nervous or anxious; read what they are communicating to each other as well as humans (me or others) and know when a situation is possibly or potentially explosive. I also learned that my own pets were using this language to tell me how much they loved/have deep affection and trust in me. That alone was worth the book price; To know the moment they are communicating their love and bond to me.Buy this book if you want to deepen and enrich your love, bond and understanding of your companion. It's priceless.

Great manual for learning to read canine body language
This is a great book (text-book type) for learning to read canine body language and all its nuances. the photos aren't the best, probably before it became easy to take decent photos on a cell phone, but it has given me a solid handle on reading what is happening with my own dogs, or, reading the "room" at the dog park. And in turn, when to let appropriate greetings and/or play take its course, when to redirect, and when to intervene. Very valuable manual.

great photographs
Outstanding guide to understanding and training your dog using its natural speech and signals. Good notes for retraining dogs that have been improperly socialized. Excellent photographs to compare do’s and don’ts and look for trouble brewing.Interact with your dog the way it understands. Brilliant book – absolutely recommend.

Fascinating read with clear photos
I've had dogs all my life and thought I was pretty well learned on their body language, but this book showed me some new things. If you really want to understand what your dog is saying, or how it's feeling, definately give this book a go. It's filled with subtle nuances that make it easier to see stress or discomfort beyond the simple ears down, tail lowered.

Fotografias não muito claras
O conteúdo é muito bom mas a qualidade das fotografias fica aquém do esperado. De certa forma uma desilusão para quem estava à procura de fotografias ilustrativas à linguagem canina

Not a book you read only one time!
This book is brilliant, featuring a large amount of photos to study and learn from as well as informative text that helps you in this process. At first I flipped through this book once, then I read it page to page and now I will be returning to individual chapters of personal interest. It's going to be a brilliant reference book to return to time and time again.I've seen some reviews complaining about the photo quality and it's true, it's not the best - some pictures are grainy and others are blurry - BUT this is of little consequence in my opinion. The photos show what the text describes in depth and regardless of quality the images are perfect to study and show what the author intends for them to show. Considering also that a lot of captions are taken IN MOTION it is not hard to understand the blurriness of certain images - dogs move with incredible speed, to catch precise actions on film can be a considerable challenge, and it's of all due credit to the author that she has found as many descriptive pictures are she has.As for the color complaint - that the pictures are in black and white - it suits my preference because it gives the book a neutral cohesiveness whereas color photos, in a book packed with information page to page, might have overloaded the impression the book gives you. My point is that the quality of the photos is a small matter compared to all that the book has to offer you so you shouldn't let it stand in the way of this purchase. The only thing that annoyed me was certain errors in the print, in spelling and what not, but this too is not really important in the end, mostly it's a pet peeve of mine that others might not even notice. :)
