Onset HOBOUX90-004 Motor Usage On/Off Data Logger w/USB Cable

I was looking for a way to measure my oil usage in a hot water boiler system to compare to my electricity usage in a min-split heating system. Knowing how much oil and electricity are used, I can calculate which is cheaper to heat with. I use the HOBO unit to measure oil usage. I simply stuck it on the outside of the oil motor using the built-in magnets and I was done. Now, just need to gather the data and analyze....

I wanted to know how frequently my auxilliary air compressor is running in my motorhome and then for how long. I did not know about data loggers and after some googling about this, I learned that I wanted a motor on/motor off logger. The Onset Hobo works as described and is very easy to use. You have to download their free software and then you are in business. I tested this for some time and dropped the data into an Excel spreadsheet to review the results. Now, I know the compressor runs about every 2.5 to 3 hours and then for about 3 minutes every time. At a cost of $95 for the Hobo data logger it was an expensive learning lesson. But, I had to know and willingly paid the price for it. The company has other loggers for different applications, too.
