Updated! Must get for your transformer!!
This thing is easy to program and works great. I tore out an old 120v pathway light system and installed a new 12v system using the Lightkiwi transformer and this timer. This thing works every time and the battery backup is great so it retains its settings even when not plugged in. I put the lighting system in last summer and this timer has been running flawlessly ever since. I wish they came out with a wifi version of this so I could turn my lights on remotely or change the timing from anywhere I had internet.Update August 7 2020:My original timer is still working great. I have so much confidence in this device that I purchased two more to run two fans in the attic. Easy as ever to program. I think I noticed a random function which is so cool. I do not think that was a function my original timer had but that just added icing to the cake. Still a great product in my eyes!

Worthwhile and inexpensive replacement for a mechanical timer
Our landscaper installed a mechanical timer in our outdoor lighting transformer, and it was terribly imprecise and started losing time right away. We swapped it out with this timer and couldn’t be happier for the price and simplicity. For simple on/off schedules that run every day, it’s easy to program (the defaults assume you’re doing an everyday schedule). Just do your programming indoors where it’s easier to see the somewhat-dim LCD. Our transformer is a different brand (Pro-Trade) but this fits inside perfectly.

Works Just Fine
It's fine. But We'll see how long it will last. Some will find if somewhat difficult to program. This is programmed the same as it's three and a half times the cost the one I am replacing. So, I have no problems with that. Yes, it takes a while because you need to program the on & off time(s) for each day of the week. The only downside that I can see id there is no battery to replace if the rechargeable internal battery has a limited life. Mine came with good instructions. Simple points. 1. You need to set the program for all seven days, one at a time. 2. Start by choosing Monday (Day button) and be sure to put the day in for each time you set timer for each day. 3. Then, proceed to the 'ON' hour for the day and usually you will have to press the Hour button to the AM or PM hour you want it 'ON'. (The screen will say if it is AM or PM so be careful.) 4. Next repeat the same day with the 'OFF' time. 5. Now set the minutes. I usually leave the PM Off at :00. 6. Select "Auto" and plug it into your control box. You'll get used to it so be patient.

Nice Timer -- Doesn't work with my Landscape Lights
I did not find the directions to program this timer as challenging as others. Each electronic timer has its own unique way of programming. I bought this to replace a manual timer (that I've replaced 3 or 4 times over the last 4 years), but it does not work in the transformer enclosed box. It works when I tested it inside on a regular lamp, plugged into a wall outlet. But, when I plug it in to the Landscape lights, it immediately trips the breaker. It must have been my fault : the mechanical timer is 9.5A and this one is 15A.I'm going to keep it -- not worth sending back -- because a spare timer is often needed. Overall a nice timer, and I like that it keeps time with a battery back up.

DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT
This is by far the most difficult timer to program. In fact, I was only able to successfully program one of the two timers that I purchased. I even went as far as to have 2 landscape and electrical professionals try to program with no luck whatsoever. IF your looking for a paperweight this is the product for you!!Unfortunately the return/ refund period has expired!!!

Economical digital timer with easy to use functions
Hard to find digital plug in timer that fits inside the outdoor landscape lighting transformer box. The newer transformers come with the digital timer and dusk to dawn auto on/off functions but my mechanical timer was acting up and I didn’t want to replace the transformer as it was working fine. I like digital timers as it turns on precisely the time you want the timer to turn on/off. Easy to program. It works just fine Price was reasonable. I’m pleased with it.

this is an easy add to make it work well
If you order a LightWiki transformer, this is an easy add to make it work well. The digital timer is intuitive and easy to program and ergonomically well designed except that the "on", "off", "auto on" and "auto off" indicators could be larger. It has a nice touch of being removable from the transformer for programming changes. Be sure to place it in the socket and charge before programming.

Robust features!
I have now purchased four of these timers. I've seen others comment on how difficult they are to program, and in some cases complain that there were no instructions. Well, anything with robust features is not going to be overly simple to program. But once you master the process, which I didn't find overly complicated, you'll be delighted with this timer and its features. As far as the instructions, they arrived with all four of my timers. They are in very fine print, so I simply ran them through my scanner to a PDF file, increased the size of the PDF for viewing, did a screen capture at the expanded size, copied the capture into a word doc and printed them out for ease of reading and following while programming the timers. Because the timer's have a built in battery that maintains all data in case of a power failure, I charge the timers up, unplug them from the outlet, and program them more easily than if they were plugged into the wall or a device. You're gonna love this little timer once you master the programming (and make the instructions more readable).
