The Plight of Chinese Christians Today
God’s Double Agent: The True Story of a Chinese Christian’s Fight for Freedom by Bob Fu and Nancy French is a fascinating look into the plight of Chinese Christians today.Bob Fu narrates his story, from wanting political freedom, to his participation and escape from Tiananmen Square, to finding the Lord Jesus as His personal Savior. He describes his humble hometown, his schooling, and his dreams. “Bob” (actually Xiqiu) opens the curtains on what it’s like to live, study, and love in China. He helps us understand sanctioned churches, the house church movement, and exactly what it takes to be openly Christian.Bob himself spent several months in a Chinese prison for his faith. Many more have spent much more time there. This book brings them to life.Bob describes almost incredible escapes—and his role in them.He founded ChinaAid, which provides training, financial support and legal defense for persecuted Christians in China. Bob shares some of their stories. This book fascinated me for several reasons: it helped me understand the opposition that Christians face on a daily basis in Communist China. It is not a pretty picture. They are under constant surveillance. They are opposed in their studies, lied about, tortured, and beaten. If one person in a family is a Christian, the authorities go after all the family—even if they are not Christians and don’t know anything. What hit me the most was that this is current. We’re not reading about what took place many decades ago. We’re reading about events that happened after the year 2000.God’s Double Agent was an incredibly interesting read. I gained a new appreciation for the endurance of the persecuted church and its dedication to Christ. It gave me a new understanding about fledgling Chinese churches and their need for Bible training in doctrine and practice. It gave me more of a burden for China and other countries where Christianity is discouraged. It is very well written and chock full of adventure.I highly recommend this book to teens and adults.

Intriguing with Fast Pace Storyline
My son told me about Bob Fu's interview with Glen Beck. I was instantly curious. As we watched Bob Fu speak to Glen, I was awestruck at his calm and heart felt demeanor. The impression he left on my brain was as strong as the one he imprinted to my heart. After all he and his family have been through, I was amazed at his well spoken and eager to share spirit. I had to know more. Ah, I see... He has a book out. I gotta check it out. I will just download the sample on my kindle and then go to bed.I breezed through the sample and thought, " Oh no, do I have enough cash on my card to buy his book, Double Agent?" Of course, the sample left off at a riveting point. I had enough cash and I hit click to buy instantly. I love true history so to read his life story about his life in China was fascinating. His love for China and its people was described through his words as he tells his story. He and his wife have an enduring love for reaching the gospel to their people in China as well. Their love story started out like a love that could've been forbidden by her parents. Yet, it persevered through almost impossible circumstances, separations, and trials.Speaking as a history lover, I would strongly recommend this book especially if you have a love for China as I do. He told it like it was and didn't candy coat his experiences. I have enjoyed learning through the years about the rich history of China and its people. He did a great job explaining his religious persecutions while not condemning his country. I appreciated his candor in how he told his story. I could see how he loves China and has a heart for its people.Incredible and well written story and that's why I rate it a five.

Excellent book!
This is a must have book for those who are interested in learning more about the persecuted church in China. I had the privilege of meeting Bob Fu several years ago at a Voice of the Martyrs conference. His love and compassion for the church in China is amazing.

One of best biographies I have ever read!
Bob Fu, Chinese, born during the "Great Leap Forward" by Mao, tells the incredible story of his life, from begging for food, to graduation from college and law school. He attended the Tienemin Square student uprising as a young college student, protesting the rights of teachers and students. But his spiritual life is the true story. Having never heard of God or Jesus, he is given a book which transforms his life as he accepts JesusChrist as his Lord and Savior. He is totally changed and becomes an evangelist at great risk. After being imprisoned for his beliefs, he marries Heidi, his sweetheart. When she becomes pregnant without permission from the government, they realize they must flee for their lives or the government would force an abortion.Their escape is a miracle in itself. Many miracles, and answers to prayer guide them first to Thailand, then Hong Kong where their child is born.Bob is today living with his family in Midland, Texas where he heads CHINA AID, a non-profit organization which works in China rescuing and providing legal representation for Christians of all ages and walks of life whose lives are in danger. He met personally with President George Bush, who has supported his efforts. This book is almost impossible to put down and a perfect read for a book club.

Ultimately and sadly boring
Sadly though I’m sure a worthwhile story it dragged on interminably and though an avid reader I got fed up snd gave up half way through something I never do

Sacrifice
Sacrifice that shames the CCP and Chinese Govt. Exposes the bankruptcy of Communist ideology when this is what they need to do, to try to keep their population under control
