Wonderful book!
This is a wonderful book. Bought it for my 2 year old granddaughter who will be a big sister shortly; it works for her but she is definitely on the young side for this book. She loves to open the flaps and see the baby in mama's belly. The belly and the baby grow bigger on each page, while the child in the book does things that my granddaughter can do for her own baby sister while waiting, like sing to her. There is a page where the child is waiting and the mama is gone, and the next page parents come home with the baby. Everything is happy and sweet. At 2 my granddaughter is having a little difficulty understanding what is going to happen...this book is a great tool to help her. I was a child therapist for over 30 years, taught preschool, and raised 5 children (including preparing them for the birth of their siblings). I have never seen a better book for this purpose and highly recommend it. The only possible criticism is that the flaps are a little flimsy (at least for a 2 year old...not like the toddler lift-the-flap books). Which means it is best to read it with the child instead of giving her free access to the book. But this book is best read with an adult anyway, so that is such a minor problem that it hardly matters. Art is simple and child friendly. Book is easy to read. We love it.

Perfect for an expecting sibling
Loved how cute this book is and love that there are flaps for kids to lift up that show a growing baby. My kids love it

A huge hit, even a year later
We bought this book for my son while I was pregnant with his baby brother as part of a larger order of books about siblings to prepare him for having a baby join our family. His little brother is over a year old now and my son, who is four, still adores this book and has us read it to him at bedtime regularly.

Soooooooo cute
I read a few negative reviews, but bought it anyway & I LOVE IT!!! It’s a sweet story & is interactive with little peekaboo windows. We used it as a card to tell our daughter she’d be a big sister at Christmas.

Great book
This book is great for parents who’s having another baby on the way it’s great to get the older ones ready for newborn baby, I had to return it because my son is 3 and I don’t really want him to question me or talk about it, I have all the other ones and we both love reading them, he grab it and talk about it , and try to read it to me , he changes his voice and act different with every page , easy to remember for him that what ever book is talking about, highly recommended

Flaps are thin - just be gentle
Little One LOVES this book and it's graphics are adorable. As many folks have mentioned, the little flaps are a touch thin, but so far, kiddo hasn't managed to rip this off. It's a good practice of "gently open the flap" I suppose. Again, as other have mentioned, I can see how the "shadow" on one page may be a little scary for some kiddos, luckily, mine doesn't seem to be frightened by it. I have made an effort to show that it's smiling and blowing kisses and they seemed fine with it. Would definitely recommend and would buy again.

Absolutely Charming Book for Big Sister (Again!)
Bought this book for my oldest daughter as we prepare for the birth of her youngest sibling. She is almost 4 and starting to understand bits and pieces about baby developing in the womb. This book is a charming (while not scientifically accurate) way for her to associate the bump of Momma's tummy being a little baby and her future sibling, even if a bit hidden for a time. The pictures are darling, the flaps are very fun (though a few are a bit delicate and I do wonder if they'll detach and need to be reattached with tape after a little wear and tear), and the words are sweet. This is my daughter's favorite book to read as we wait for our new littlest one to emerge.
