Workbook Style that is OUTSTANDING for both new or longtime Preppers like me!
WOW!!! GREAT BOOK. THE BEST I’ve ever owned / read on Preparedness and I own or have read about 50 books on this topic. I have been prepping since 1992 = 28 YEARS! IMPORTANT: The author, Jim Cobb lets you into his thought processes and explains WHY the order he offers things to be done in is the BEST approach. I’m the kind of women that needs this information to better understand the ‘ins’-and ‘outs’ of things! I also LOVE how Jim gives you permission to use the book like a workbook to mark it up! QUOTE from pages 19-20: Don’t be afraid to dog-ear pages, use a highlighter on the text, or make notes in the margins. If, by the time you’ve finished the book, it looks beat to hell, then you did it right! END QUOTE. Well, I’ve had my copy less than a week and it looks like I’ve owned it for multiple YEARS! I even had to buy more highlighters! :-) And after doing prepping the hard way for sooo long, I’m looking to clean up my act and get it right this time around. I own the gear and items needed, just never had a good organizational system of how to break things into different named backpacks and/or carry bags. This book clears all that up...Upon arrival, I read the WHOLE BOOK, cover-to-cover in a day, marking ideas and items I have either never heard of or thought of myself. I suggest you do the same: just READ it thru FIRST to understand his logic ~start to finish~. Now, I have gone back and followed the program week-by-week, season-by-season, as he lays it out. Because I have been at this for so long I have made it thru 3/4 of the book in days and feel like for THE FIRST TIME in 28 years I know what I have and WHERE I have it stored. HUGE PROGRESS in less than a week! My husband just bought a second book to have his OWN COPY... That says a lot for him! He hates to spend money on books especially duplicates but, he saw the progress I’ve made and wanted in on the move forward too. NOTE: This book will NOT be one of those books that just sits on a shelf or on your night stand. If your serious about getting organized, this book will be on your desk, in the kitchen or go with you wherever you go, to be reviewed DAILY! It’s JUST THAT GOOD.This is THE BEST BOOK for NEW PREPPERS - IF you want to start out RIGHT and a GREAT BOOK for even long time preppers like me to go back and review the gear and supplies you have and use the checklists to verify you got it ALL - WHERE you need it! Best $12 I’ve spent in a long time. God bless.

Learn How To Prepare
This is a work of nonfiction, a departure to what I normally review, but within the same realm. Preparedness or homesteading or prepping or whatever you want to call it is only the smart thing to do. Heck, even FEMA advises you to prepare for potential disasters coming your way. And, families, especially those in rural farm areas pass down from generation to generation ways of growing and storing their own food for the cold, harsh winters. By following the plan in this book, you should be well on your way to being prepared for any event that leaves you stranded without power and/or water for the short-term.Cobb’s book, Countdown to Preparedness: The Prepper’s 52 Week Course to Total Disaster Readiness, is a compilation of articles he had written for a SurvivalWeekly.com. His fans asked that he put the lessons altogether in a book and here it is. It is well thought out and written so that anyone unfamiliar with preparedness can jump right in there with no trouble at all. And, even the seasoned prepper can learn something. It is recommended that you read from the very beginning covering The Basics before going to other sections. After that, you may want to head over to whatever season of the year happens to be going on right then. Don’t worry if you must stop and start again. You need to do what’s best for you and your family. Shoot, you may want to read it all the way through and then decide on your plan of action. Either way you do it, you will be better off because of it.For a step-by-step guide to surviving through most catastrophes, you can’t get a better reference book. I highly recommend reading it and following its advice.5 out of 5 stars.

A very organized approach to getting prepared
"Be prepared" is an excellent motto for all of us. Yet most of us are not ready for small problems, much less disasters. The author presents a very structured plan to go from unprepared to prepared in 52 weekly steps. Want to start prepping but don't know where to start? This guide will take you through the whole process in small steps that most of us can manage. Brief, concise, clear. Highly recommended.

Great starter checklist, split out into weeks
Broad but not deep, this book is a great way to ease your way into preparedness, one weeks assignment at a time. You'll likely find yourself wanting more at the end of every chapter however. Expect to need supplemental reading on most topics, depending on your experience and comfort levels.

There's good info in it and
If you want to start, have recently started or are wondering if you should start get this book. There's good info in it and, if used through the 52-week plan, it will help to get you well stocked especially for a "bugging in" situation. Good book overall. Very few spelling and/or grammar mistakes (which is a pet peeve of mine), that coupled with the information and layout warrants a five star rating.

It is certainly one of the best books to help individuals prepare for just about any kind of disaster. And it does it one step at a time so that with minimal effort getting prepared should be easier.

If you are a normal person living in the real world you should read this book - just in case?
I liked this book. It is common sense prepping for normal people. No one knows what will happen tomorrow but this book is relevant, concise and easy to read. It is sectioned for convenience and reference so you can understand why each aspect needs to be considered and how to go about it.I am not a 'off the grid weekend warrior'. I am a normal person; I have always kept a spare bulbs for the lights under the sink, I buy more than one toilet roll, I buy the extra bottle of sauce - just in case. I bought the book because I needed help thinking that bit further and I am glad I did.It is US oriented but most of it is just has relevant for the UK.Recommend it.
