How to Do Everything Adobe Acrobat X

I train and teach people to use computers and PDF technology is one essential tool I teach. SInce I am a big fan of eBooks, I was disappointed to learn that Adobe's Classroom in the Book will not let you download the practice files for people using eBooks. I bumped into this and found this to be a very easy book to use and an outstanding collection of information on the different tools. I was able to bookmark and highlight the parts I could teach and have it on my iPad and Kindle software and teach the classes. My students love the book as well (and it costs less!!!!) Great book for everything.

My boss told me to order Adobe Pro for some work she wants me to do in Q1 next year (just a couple weeks away). Problem was, I don't have any real-world experience with it since my last job would not approve anything more than the Acrobat Standard edition. I don't like to tell my boss I can't deliver, not without at least trying, ya know? So, while I ordered the software subscription through the company, I quickly ordered myself this book. Giving myself a crash course during lunch time for a week or so. And by gosh - I think I am gonna pull it off! :-) Well, at least be proficient enough to navigate the basics and learn advanced features as I go. Hoorah! Cons - there are really long descriptions of the screens next to actual images of them. Kinda weird. It would be easier to understand if the screen shots were simply marked up using arrows and labels, I think.

I really have very little interest in Adobe Acrobat. I recognize that I need PDF files and have used them for years to a very limited degree. Until a few months ago, I was still using Acrobat 5 to the very limited degree I was using Acrobat at all. Occasionally, I needed to generate PDFs at it seemed sufficient. A few months ago was when I finally updated a lot of software from the early 2000s to CS5.5. Acrobat went from version 5 to version 10. I decided, grudgingly, that I needed to learn about Acrobat and its capabilities and was fortunate that this book is the one I chose. I could not have chosen better. It is, in effect, a manual. It describes every option and possibility on the menus and explains their usefulness. I found myself amazed at how capable a program Acrobat actually is. I learned of capabilities that I had never thought of and which now seem to be indispensible. Learning the power of the program was well worth the price of the book. Having an actual “instruction manual” makes the book a sound investment. This was my first “How to do Everything…” book. I will certainly look for them in the future when I need to learn a new program.

Bought this with a bundle of other books, don't think I have used it, I am sure it will come in handy if i need a refresher on certain tools in Adobe Acrobat X

I have been able to find how to do everything I need in this book with Acrobat. The index is a bit lean but it can be overcome readily. Easy to follow the writing with good illustrations within.

This sort of reading can be a bit dry, but the author has made it interesting and relevant. I would have liked to see more examples, but perhaps hands-on MY software with MY files is a better use of time. I learned Acrobat 9 using a similar "teaching book" and got very comfortable with the features I use. The author recommends reading it cover to cover, even if you are a proficient 9 user. I agree -- some features/functions are similar, but just different enough to merit this attention. And, of course, there are new features to try out.

This is a nice book with larger fonts and to me that is important. The language is easy to understand. More important, and one can take this to the bank; if one has an issue and one cannot locate the answer in the book--call ADOBE--on technical problems Adobe techs are great--presume it is your all-in-one causing the problem, because it will not be the program. The language in the book is easy to understand and at times I read and read again until I finally figured it out. Since the program and the book are user friendly one will be pleased to have both. I have owned PRETENDERS by Nuance and their PDF Professional and OCR PROFESSIONAL were awkward and I truly believed interferred with the smooth operation of the computer--not to purchased ADOBE ACROBAT X standard and this book is being very unjust to oneself. "Classroom in a book" by ADOBE Publishing is more difficult so please try this first.. How to Do Everything Adobe Acrobat X

I really loved this book. I learned alot about how to make pdf file into e-book. I got this book as a school lesson enhancement and it has done it's job. Acrobat is way more than a reader. It take you step by step on how to turn you PDF doc into a standard format that almost every one can read on thier computer..
