Teach Like Socrates: Guiding Socratic Dialogues and Discussions in the Classroom (Grades 7-12) 1st Edition

The book is an excellent introduction to teaching and less on Socrates inductive method, as there are few examples from Plato's text. However, the author did not claim the book to be an intro to inductive logic. If the intention was teaching, however, I find the book lacking an introductory chapter on Bloom's revised taxonomy which is referenced heavily throughout the book.sherif

This book was much better than I expected it to be. I was looking for a traditional approach to Socratic dialog (not Socratic circles, etc.). While this book leaves room for the newest applications and lists the part of the common core that are being addressed, it goes much deeper than that. The first chapters explain what Socratic dialog & discussion are, then Wilberding goes through examples of using Socratic dialog for different purposes. Finally, he gives explicit instructions on 3 class lessons that can be used to teach students what the Socratic method is about and how to better engage in it.

This second booklet on the Socratic Method just reinforced what I already do in my classroom. I would check the local library for a copy before purchasing this for your private library. However, it was great as a refresher for teaching students to think critically about all subject matter.

This book did help me to think about how to get my point over to my students in such a way as to cause them to think and answer the question not just remember the answer.

The book is fine; I found the seller to be unprofessional.

Only one or two pages in the book were helpful. More information and resources are helpful in an internet search. Very disappointing.

Very simple and straightforward approach to Socratic teaching. I greatly enjoyed it.
