Rigel Systems Quick Finder 1x Finder R-CRS

This is needed product with many good reviews. I can't go higher than two, and that's stretching it a bit. The placement of the control knobs on the front, especially the white one in the lower right (as you look at the unit picture) is where you would place your fingers to get the leverage to mount or remove the finder from the mounting bracket. I felt like I was going to snap the knob off and can't imagine doing it in cold weather with glove on.

This little telescope finder is excellent. It is easy to align, easy to use, and easy to put on or take off for storage. It may not actually find the star you are looking for, but it sure makes it easy to help line up your telescope to the star you are looking for. I find it much easier to use than any straight-through optical finders I have used. (I have never used a right angle finder. Maybe those could be better.)This has everything you can find in a red dot finder. Besides the red dot, it also has circles at 1 and 2 degrees, which really helps on star hopping. That function is rare in red dot finders. It can even have the display flash at whatever brightness and speed you want, which helps you find and line up to dim stars. This is truly a complete and great red dot finder. This is the most complete red dot finder I have ever used.When I received the finder, I thought placing it for up near the front of the telescope would be a good thing. WRONG. Place it near the back of the telescope where your eye will be. I wish I had this finder oh, so many years ago when I started using telescopes.By the way, I have no connection whatever to the Rigel company. I just happen to love their red dot finder.

I’ve been an amateur astronomer since 1966, and have built, used, or modified at least a dozen telescopes in that time. The Rigel Quick Finder is my preferred finder to use over other zero power sights like the well known ‘Telrad’. It’s about a third the size of the Telrad, and comes with a built in flashing mode, you can adjust for the speed of ‘on & off’ around your intended target. You can easily adjust the brightness of the projected double circle reticle display. Most of all, I prefer this simple circle, in a circle, display o over the Telrad’s, which is far too busy with an over elaborate grid, that distracts from finding a faint object your looking for. It is my finder of choice for any size scope I use.
