It is an exact fit for my Hiland heater which is about 2 years old. Removal of the old burner was easy but I was surprised at how rusty the hardware that secured the heat shield was. Thankfully I was able to get it removed and I was able to reuse the hardware again. The regulator hose went down inside the main support tube smoothly and I was able to bolt on the new burner with the supplied new hardware to the support tube using a 10mm socket. It fired up on first push of the igniter!For those that are having problems with getting it lit the problem maybe your propane tank valve especially if it has been super cold and. It used regularly. Get a fresh tank of propane and give that a shot. Before getting a new tank, you can simply tap on the regulator using a small metal tool like a crescent wrench, remove the coupling to the tank, and then reattach it. When you turn on the tank valve, first tighten the valve firmly, then slowly loosen the valve. This usually works with older tanks that haven’t been used in awhile and when it is super cold outside. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product...BUT check your existing unit for retrofit needs first *by D***B on November 10, 2019* UPDATE SEPT 2021: both units have failed at this point. The pilot on off valve is gummed up and ignition switch no longer sparking. Disappointing, waste of time and $. Time for new units.Original review:Overall very happy with this unit. It replaced a maxi heat unit that was 15 years old. I expected there would be some retrofitting to be done and it was principally in two areas. First the bottom mounting holes. My old unit had three this unit has four. So drilled three new holes in shaft. Second the heat shield holes didn’t line up with the existing heat shield. Buying a new one would have added $50 (for 3 piece shield which is cheesy) at which point the buy-new option vs fix becomes more attractive @$140-$160. So we removed the top plate from old burner unit to mark for drilling holes in new unit (new unit top is welded not screwed...however bottom of mesh screen is attached with screws which gives access for retrofit. Used old bolts to connect. Third...the old unit had a gas pipe in the riser pole (vs a hose like new unit). Removal was easy but the opening at bottom of riser pole was too small for regulator to fit down through so had to disconnect hose at top of new unit and then reattach. This work was all within our capabilities and existing tools available. And we have a second unit that will no doubt need replacement soon...so we will definitely go this route again. Hope the unit lasts 15 years like old one!!As for starting, I followed recommendations on other posts and it worked fine. Just takes a little more time than my old unit. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great replacement burner *by M***F on May 23, 2022* Great replacement burner for our patio heater. The base of it is tapered and narrower than our original patio post, so had to shim it to make it fit. It would be nice if there were some kind of adapter included. Also, lighting it is a bit different than our original where you hold the pilot light button while you click the starter. On this one it isn't obvious that the pilot is lit (even when it is) until you take it on faith and turn the gas dial, then the flames pops on.
