Overall just an okay set of knives.
I have quite a few of the Classic style knives, which are hands down way better quality than these knives. These will work great for general everyday use without too much worry of being damaged and maintaining them. The metal blades are much thinner and flimsy, but the handles are similar to the classic style knives. The block it comes with absolutely infuriates my OCD. When people say that the knives don't fit the slots very well, I thought maybe they were just a little wide and would be slightly sloppy. NOT the case at all. A large portion of the knives are very small paring style knives that have about a 1/2" to 3/4" wide blade at most, and the only slots for them are 2" long by 1/4" wide. The handles will flip left and right by 2+ inches just getting bumped. Whomever decided that this block works with this knife set needs a good kick in the balls.

Good Knife set with a couple of caveats
I received this knife set with no real high expectations simply because I knew this is Wüsthof‘s entry level knife set. I bought these knives with the intention of replacing my cheaper knife set made in China. So I bought a German knife set. The knives are sharp and the set is nice. Nothing stands out about this knife set that is particularly unique or eye popping. The set seems to be fine. However, the wood block is another. The Wood seems to be defective as far as the finish is concerned, or lack thereof. The finish on one side of the Block is worn off. Also, the slots on the Block seem to be too big for some of the smaller paring knives. The smaller knives fit sloppily in the slots. For the price you pay for this set you would think the fit and finish of this detail would be exact. Otherwise, I don’t have any real issues with this Wüsthof Gourmet set. If you are willing to accept this as a minor flaw in the set, the knives themselves seem to be of relatively good quality and good value.

Fake Fake Fake
Fake fake fake. The Wusthof label is actually a STICKER. Not worth $300. It’s a fake knock Off when back the day I opened the box.

Finally received. VERY low quality knives, knives don't fit slots in block
These knives are the same quality as what one would expect from Walmart or Target. They are so awkward looking. The slots are way too big for the knives. No wonder every company that currently sells them are HEAVILY discounting them and most are clearing them out. Wusthof should be ashamed for putting their name on this product. I gave this set as a gift for my spouse and was so incredibly embarrassed when they opened it up. It took forever to receive the first one I ordered because it was shipped to the wrong address- even though they had my correct address. Overall, I do not recommend- AT ALL

Nice Knives but the Block is Horrible
The Wustholf knives are great - they are sharp and work well. This is my first set of high-quality knives, and I am happy with the function of the actual knives. However, the wood block is a completely different issue. As many other reviews said, many of the knives in this set do not properly fit into the slots in the block, and it looks terrible sitting on the kitchen counter. The slots are not a secure fit for the knives so they wobble around and are not secure. I actually reached out to Wustholf directly to see if they would be able to provide a better knife block, but apparently they create "universal" knife blocks made to use with many different knife sets, and suggested I order more knives to better fit the slots in the block. Safe to say I probably won't be ordering Wustholf again.

Wusthofs bargain set
Very cheap feel for Wusthof blades. I bought these for my new place after having another set I bought years back and I’m pretty disappointed so far just in the cheaper feel, the thinner blades, and the block that doesn’t match the cutlery set well at all.If I wasn’t going to convert this place into a rental in a year, I would be sending them back and getting a higher quality version.

It rusts and gets discolored
Not even a year of use, I carefully washed by hand and it’s rusting, Such a good looking set but I’m very disappointed!!!

Great knives but horrible wood block knife slots.
I had a set previously but could not take it with. I bought a new set and the one thing I notice is that the new knives are much lighter although I appreciate that. The blades are great though. The wooden block isn’t great for the same reason that many have stated. The knife slots are not made specific to the knives in the set but made to fit generic knife sizes.Another thing to note: this block has no slots to fit the cleaver should you decide to get that.

Low quality, it's disturbing for that brand!
Bad quality for such a good brand. I was told Wusthof was one of the three world's leader in chef knife. Well, they let that line slipped... Discoloration on the handles (from white to orange-ish) and shattered blades, after only 3 months of normal use at home and always hand washed. I will now have to send the defective knives to Wusthof for replacement, I hope it will go well!

Bummed out
I broke the bank and paid over $500 bucks for this set. It was a mother's day present and I wanted a bit of a splurge. The knife handles are light and not as heavy as I would expect for good quality. I bought the set in May 2020 and five month's later I've had to sharpen them twice already. I would have kept looking and paying this much, I'm not sure I would do it online again.
