A Great Heart Tugging Movie with no profanity
It's hard to find good heart touching movies without profanity but this one fits the bill. I will definitely be watching this movie several times.

I just wanna say...
I support, admire and enjoy the work of Tyson, Underwood, Williams and Palmer in this respectable, but tepid remake. As talented as each actor is, no one gave a slam-dunk performance. Both Blair and Vanessa seemed totally detached to me. They seemed to be hurling lines back and forth, but with no real connection. Kekeโs persona seemed too hip (and hurried) for the time period. And Cicely, wellโฆI kept seeing shades of Miss Jane Pittman. Her mannerism, movements, sounds, etc., was simply a repeat of the Pittman character. And not because sheโs older. For I have watched โFried Green Tomatoesโ and โThe Helpโ many times over and never had a Miss Jane Pittman recall moment once. As her execution of these two elderly characters simply did not crossover to Miss Jane Pittman. So, I must sayโฆI am partial to the original version of โThe Trip to Bountifulโ with the late-great Geraldine Pageโas well as the entire cast. Nonetheless, I still bought the movie because I am an earnest fan.

I liked this version much better than the earlier one
How could one go wrong with these three exceptionally talented actors. I liked this version much better than the earlier one. The first was good, but in my humble opinion, this one was excellent. I am an avid movie watcher, and I critique a movie exclusively on (performance), because talent is not confined to any one group of people, but to all. This just moved me more, because Cicely Tyson gave an outstanding performance. Her co-stars were very good, but she was excellent. Good story, good performances all around.. Both versions of this movie were well done, this one just happens to be my favorite. It touched my heart and soul. Why do we call females (actors, and not actresses).?? (Host and not Hostesses)

Original Version, Great Movie
We ordered this movie because our original was loaned out and never returned. The DVD of A Trip to Bountiful is the original screen version. After receiving it, we sat down and watched if again. It is a heart warming portrayal of the deep feelings an individual has for their past. Although things change over time the recollection of the good life experienced at the "old place" is powerful. The acting by Geraldine Page is superb and the supporting cast is excellent. We recommend this movie to everyone. It is the most beautiful movie we've ever seen.

The movie is great.
I saw the play on Broadway, since this was made into a movie with Ms. Tyson I wanted to add to my library.

An excellent Story and Cast!
Trip to Bountiful! This cast was awesome! Cicely Tyson, Blair Undewood , Vanessa Williams and supporting cast did a superb job in this story line. This was a beautiful story of a mother who truly missed her friends and the town in which she grew up. She was lonely in her new environment and made many attempts to return to Bountiful. You could feel the passion, pain and frustration from the entire cast. This is a good story and I highly recommend to anyone who seeks a passionate, sincere story of a family whom learns how to cope with a aging mother and mother-in-law. This is a very enjoyable story-line. And you feel good at the end.

Mostly Good
I enjoyed this movie, not quite as much as the earlier version with Geraldine Paige, but still good.Cicely Tyson was wonderful, as always. I also enjoyed Blair Underwood, well chosen to play her son. I didn't like Vanessa Williams at all! I thought her acting was poor throughout and definitely not the best choice for this part. The scenery and music were lovely, loved the costumes too, what a great era for clothes!๐๐๐ So sad but definitely worth a view.โคHelpful votes are always appreciated!โค
