Decent book with horrible indexing.
I bought this book because a different one hadn't enabled me to pass the test. This book is set up differently, which is fine, is obviously written by a Brit, which, apart from a few semantic differences, is also fine, and has some mock tests, which are helpful. But most of the time, when reviewing material, I simply can't find terms in the index. For instance, Password Salting isn't referenced under password or Salting. RAM isn't listed under Memory or RAM. RRSIG isn't referenced anywhere. And all of these terms are on the first mock exam! I'm literally having to Google things on my phone that the book contains, but to which it has no usable reference.

READ THIS ASAP!
I recommend this book to any person looking to pass the security plus exam I read the book in a couple of days took the test and passed the next week. I didn't understand the concepts of the course objectives at first but this book helped me understand the difficult topics with ease. Ian goes into the specifics in his book and corresponds a topic to a real world scenario that is easier to understand. I feel other resources fail to do this and that's the difference between this book and other books. This book helped me understand how PKI really works, starting from the architecture of a CA to the different certificate types and more. If you want to pass the security plus test in the most effcicent way possible then you need to read this book!

WIll definitely help you pass the Security+, but way too many errors for you to spend your money on
This book covers the topics for the Security+ exam. But, as others have noted, it's chock full of errors, typos, etc. Literally every practice exam, and every drag/drop Practical has errors. It's ridiculous - from incorrect nomenclature, to omitted or mis-lettered answers. No problem with the British english, but why spend your money here, and get an error filled tome, when you can buy several other books with the same content, and more careful attention to detail? Really, it's inexcusable how many errors there are in this book.

Nice Book
I seem to retain the info in here more so than a couple of the video instructions I was following. Although I was able to dedicate less distracted time too it (coffee shop instead of at work with videos)Seems to be well organized, and easier to grasp with a good amount of practice questions at the end of each chapter to help integrate the information a little better...

Wasn't really a help to me
I purchased this to help me pass the CompTIA Security+ test; I got about 25-30% through the book -- it was just very, very slow going, and it isn't organized the same way as the Security+ "need to know" listing. I discovered the Professor Messer series on this topic on Youtube, and it was FAR more helpful to me than this book was. (If you're not familiar with his series, he has a test session once a month; I started at the current month, and went backwards through his videos for about 8-9 months; he explains his answers, which is very helpful.I assume that this is well-written, but, as I said, it was out of order of the topics. I'm sure all of the information is good, but I just didn't find it of value to me.I don't recommend this to my co-workers studying for the test.

Good Information Poorly Conveyed
The information in the book is useful but there are so many typos and sentences that don't make sense that I have to re-read many times to understand what I read. Could have used an editor.

Not the best tool for taking Security+
This book is a valuable book if you want to learn Cyber security terms and concepts. I’ve worked in CS since 2008 with a few years off in between. I got the Security + in 2009 and unfortunately I let it expire. I attempted the Security + in 2018 (501 version) and it was nothing like the original certification. I read this book beginning to end and did all the work but it didn’t help me pass. After reading several books, watching professor messer and a lot of practice tests, I passed.

Great Book!
Literally just got the book hours ago and I love it! It has great detail on each topic without making them confusing. I also like how the quiz area explains why wrong answers are wrong and why correct answers are correct. The only downside to the book is the indexing. It does not match the Security+ objectives where you can find them immediately in the book. Kind of scattered. Still a great book to add to my study set.(Update)I passed the Security+ exam yesterday with this book and other study materials. This book is a must buy if you are attempting the Security+ exam!

"must have" exam prep resource
Having come across many other Security+ SYO-501 study guides, this really stands out. Easy to understand overviews and good examples of key terms and technologies. Loads of real world examples making tricky technologies easy to understand. If you are looking to pass the SYO-501 certification, I would highly recommend this book.

The best certification book for Security+
I have read a lot of security+ certification books and this is by far the best. It is obviously written by someone who knows how to put the information across in a way that WILL get you certified. I teach the security+ a lot and will definitely recommend this book to my students.

Well structured, but...
The chapters and content are well structured, but there are too many mistakes. In the first 30 I found about 5-6 errors (not typos). If you are okay with the odd mistake I would recommend the book, otherwise choose at own discretion.

not woth the time to invest
Not worth the money - and especially not the time. There are way too many mistakes in this book - and i am not even talking about typos or grammar. I mean actual false info on certain topics. The mock exams give you the rest - i can not recommend this book - there are far better choices. I passed the 5-01 but certainly not because of this book. Go with the official study guide, with get certified ahead and/or with an question app like pocketprep in addition.
