The lemon verbena smells like chemicals . . . unpleasant! . . . not at all like lemon verbena which I grow and use for making iced tea. Why???

If you read the ingredients it is scented with lemon, fir, and lemongrass not with lemon verbena. Fir often has a chemical scent to some people especially when combined with other scents. I disliked this soap when I first bought it but after a week the scent grew on me and I now like it. Still not my favorite Meyer's Hand Soap scent but I like it.

Is the fragrance from the essential oils or is it a chemical?

From their website, "We use a combination of natural essential oils and safe synthetic ingredients in our fragrance compositions."

i been trying to purchase this, why won't it ship to cali??

California has Proposition 65. It requires all items shipped to California to have VERY specific labels. If a product does nit have “their” specific labels on them, the product is not allowed to enter California. I do not believe the Ms Meyers company has separate labels just for California.

For the people who obviously know nothing about Celiac's disease & replied to this question: #1) When you are allergic to gluten, if something contains gluten (in large amounts OR IN TRACE AMOUNTS) and it gets absorbed into your skin (lotions, makeup, soaps, etc), your body will react to it. Period. It's like people with peanut allergies. They don't have to eat it to get sick, smear peanut butter on them and see what happens. (Disclaimer: For legal reasons I have to state this is sarcasm. NEVER smear peanut butter on a person with a nut allergy.) #2) CROSS CONTAMINATION. You ever pick up something that isn't made with nuts but it has "Made in a facility that processes peanuts" on the label? Just because a particular allergen is not a listed ingredient does NOT mean that the product is completely free of said allergen. Even if you aren't a doctor or an informed person who has been living with Celiac's disease for years, researching nowadays is usually free, the only thing you have to spend is your time. When you know damn well that you're ignorant on a subject and still choose to speak as if you're an expert on the topic, you're no longer simply ignorant, you're also moronic. And on a topic this serious, you should have enough common sense to shut up if you're not willing to educate yourself first.
