A Needed Ingredient for Soaking Brass in Citric Acid
This is added, per directions given by the Western Australian Museum, in a 1 (thiourea) to 5 (citric acid) ratio in distilled water to soak brass and bronze/copper. The mixture worked incredibly well to remove scale and other contamination from inside a vintage brass/copper radiator, with the thiourea used to prevent the brass turning pink and subsequently needing more cleaning to remove the pink layer.Followed with a wash of sodium bicarbonate and carbonate to neutralize remaining acids, a heat exchanger’s core can be cleaned out safely (provided the core is not “held together with crud”) and without scarring the brass and causing invisible layers of corrosion or “bronze disease”.

Hope the research result is proper and honest.
It will be a while before I know the results. Hope it works.

Doesn’t work well for dying
I’m was using this for indigo dying and it produces a very weak blue.
