Good product - but for the cost should not use cheap plastic fittings
Well designed stainless steel reservoir, but cheap plastic fittings on stainless steel connection is just plain dumb. As other reviews have said the fittings break without excessive force being used to tighten. Also the purpose of the flow monitor is to maximize filter life, but the light indicator is designed for the faucet that comes with the unit. We chose a high quality Delta drinking water faucet that matches our sink faucet. There is no way to mount the light indicator on that faucet. I mounted the light indicator under the sink on a L bracket ahead of the filter unit. All we have to do is open the cabinet door and see the light blinking to know monitor unit is working as intended. The instructions should offer that as an optional install procedure. The design of the wiring location on the light indicator is poor and lends itself to having the wiring chaffed by retainer nut on the provided faucet. For what the unit cost use higher quality fittings and provide a bracket to mount the monitor light under the sinks as well. My wife likes the taste of the filtered water.

Cheap faucet construction
For such an expensive under sink water filtration unit, you'd think that the faucet construction would be higher quality. Mine started leaking after about 1 year of use (just beyond the warranty coverage of course). You can't seem to purchase any components to fix the faucet leak and must buy the entire faucet from Multipure to replace. That said, the water tastes ok.

Taste not quite as good as I hoped.
It is a big improvement over the pitcher filter we used for so many years. I am somewhat disappointed in the taste of the water. It tastes much better than tap water, but not as good as I had expected based on reviews I read.

Love the taste of the water
Love the taste of the water. I switched from a reverse osmosis water system to the Multipure system. The water is much better tasting as the Multipure system does not remove all the minerals that help with taste. Multipure system was easy to install and is a high quality system. I also saved a lot of space with this system as opposed to the much larger sized reverse osmosis system I had before. This system is worth the price.

US made, independently certified filter, beautiful housing
Confronted by the dizzying array of choices I found the multipure system by going to the Water Quality Association wqa.org site and looking up gold certification devices. There were only a small number of them and Multipure was on the list. I also wanted a US made device and filter. Multipure is in Nevada and the filter is US made. The WQA specs give extensive detail on the NSF/ANSI independently verified filter performance (I don't trust unverified manufacturer claims esp Chinese products). I installed the connection to my existing second kitchen cold water faucet which is used only for food prep. I picked up adapters at the local ACE hardware to connect to the existing faucet hoses. Finding the right size adapters was tricky. Otherwise the install was very easy. Water tastes great. My wife loves the water and the beautiful filter housing. I accidentally dropped the unit on stone tile while unboxing and it didn't even scratch. Solid construction. I had thought our water was very good quality since we live in a nice California suburb and then my daughter looked up the EPA information and found that her water at college in Terre Haute Indiana, the site of 150 years of manufacturing, has fewer pollutants. Shame on me for trusting my friends at the local public water filtration plant.

An excellent value, with a significant, but not tragic flaw...
For the record, I'd give this 4.7 stars, but just can't feel compelled to give it only 4 stars on this rating system. This is a great water filtration system, whose performance goes beyond their claims (and their claims are backed by NSF-ANSI standards). I am a scientific researcher who works in the field of environmental health, epidemiology, and holistic health, so I have a very high standard for water purification. This unit is great and does what it says and more. That said, I gave it 4 stars because it does not remove fluoride from water, which is now recognized as a neurodevelopmental toxicant at levels very near that which is considered "safe" in our drinking water. I would imagine in a generation public health policy will have moved on from the failed experiment of fluoride in the water (of course quietly, like it always does). With more and more toxic contaminants ending up in our water (drugs, pesticides, airplane residuals, industrial compounds, automobile compounds, and other agricultural chemicals), an excellent water filter is essential. There might be better values out there but usually with convenience compromised, i.e. Berkey does fluoride and arsenic, but you have to fill it up regularly, clean the filters, be careful about overflow, and wait longer and longer to get water the more it's used. Also, I've perused the reviews of some of the other high-rated water filters on Amazon and I believe this is one of the best on here.If you prefer to get the fluoride taken care of, Multipure makes a very good reverse osmosis unit that I've had at other people's houses.Best of luck in your water purification journey!
