Care-Aid Folding Walking Cane with Built-in LED Flash Light - Burgundy

Cane seems to work well with initial use. Will see as we go. The only thing I do not like is the light. Have had others that allow the light tip to be tilted down slightly to shine on the ground closer to your feet where you are walking. This does not. It just shines straight ahead which is not necessarily a good feature for me. I need light to show where I am walking much closer than a few feet away. The use of regular batteries instead of the watch-type batteries is great. Do like the 5-prong tip, also. Seems to give it much more stability when you want it to stand, which is a feature I use all the time. Probably would not order again as the light option is why I ordered it to begin with. Wish I had noticed this before I went ahead and ordered it. I would have kept looking.

This cane tip works good. It appears to be well designed and well made. It is lighter weight than several of the others. It is large enough to hold the cane upright, but not large enough to get in the way to trip me. With five feet is is a lot more stable than one with the same outer diameter and only three or four feet. I also bought this one to put on the end of a wooden cane that someone gave me that was a little too short. This raised the height about 3/4 inch. I.read reviews of several others, both cheaper and more expensive cane tips I found there were too many complaints for several other competitors. I found some others had more problems, like breaking open, or letting the cane poke through the bottom.even within several weeks. They were either not designed well enough for strength or used inadequate material. Also good is this one has five feet, but not one in the center. This is good because there were complaints on some other ones with a center foot where the outer feet wore down or bent upward a little leaving the center foot too long so it could not stand up by itself. That could never happen with this model because there is no center foot..The package is labeled for 3/4 inch diameter cane bottom. My cane is is 3/4.inch. I put some cooking oil on it to make it easier to slide on, and now it feels tight and secure, .

I've used two of these so far (all things wear out!). In-between I tried a similar, but six-footed, attachment which, while more attractive, fell apart in 2 weeks. This unit lasted me 5 months until I became concerned that the gripping pattern on the bottom was worn away (though it had not caused any slips). It is made of a heavy, almost industrial-feel material. Soon after beginning to use it, it developed a "groaning" sound when walking; a drop of olive oil where cane met foot took that away.

The stability and control it offers is fantastic. Not too difficult to attach but a little hard to tell when you've touched the bottom to ensure proper fit. The material does not like anything with a sharp edge and can start to tear internally if caught during the insertion. This happened after having to trim my first cane, a carbon fiber one. I have a second cane, natural wood, and will be ordering this product again for it.Note to others, you'll either want to trim an inch from your current cane or order one an inch shorter because of the added height. Excellent product, just needs a tweak.

Now she can park her cane anywhere. And forget where she left it. She's still mobile enough she can limp from place to place to find where she stood her cane. Lots of good exercise - even if it is a little dangerous - but most good exercise has some element of risk. I wonder if there is an out-of-range/proximity beeper and wrist band I could get for it. I don't know how "anti-slip" it is - there needs to be a standard for that label to give it meaning. But she has used it out in the rain many times. Snow? I don't know about that. I tell her to not walk outside when there is snow on the ground. She lives many miles away - so who knows.

Overall I would say this cane stands alone about 75% of the time, which is good, but could be better. Batteries in the handle makes it a little more top heavy. Doesn't stand by itself well on carpet. Upon recommendation found in one of these reviews I got the Beyoung standing quad support cane tip and put on the cane. It is far better than the tip that comes with it. It stands up by itself about 95% of the time and does much better on carpet. This cane is too tall for short people.

Also use as snake pinning device while walking in woods with 4 yr old toddler and assists in walking in snow and on ice during winter. I also use micro spike chains on boots during winter, I wrapped end of broom handle in plastic food wrap and dripped gorilla glue into opening of care-aid-5-pod cane tip to ensure snug weatherproof no fail fit. I put nonslip rubber chair leg caps( DMI Rubber Walker, Cane, Walking Stick and Commode Tips, Slip Resistant, 1 1/8 Inch, Gray, 4-Count) on rounded end of broom handle to improve traction for walking on ice/tile floors. broom handle lets me ward off aggressors who try to take advantage of disabled........

Decent quality, fair price. However there is a safety issue. The cane was supplied with two rubber tips. They are extremely hard to properly install. I had to remove a ridge inside the tip and lubricate it with soap to get it fully installed. I could not get the tips installed with out doing those two procedures. Not having the tip properly installed allows it to easily become detached from the cane and consequently presents a hazard via slippage on hard surfaces. Buyer beware!
