Grill Dog Cedar Hog BBQ Grill Brush Scraper - Full Size

I bought this brush after my buddy's wife had to go to the hospital with metal fragments in her throat after eating food off a grill scraped with a wire brush. Obviously scared the heck out of me, so I dove into my wooden scraper search and settled on this one.I used it for the first time last night. Heated the grill first, then went to work and the grooves started to burn in right away. The smell was incredible - think the inside of a sauna - and it was surprisingly effective at scraping even without the grooves totally set in.Looking forward to using this and not dying from metal fragments in my insides. Will definitely recommend as well.

Works great on porcelain enamel grill grates, which quickly sears in channels that fit perfectly. I think it actually cleans better than metal scrapers and seems to keep the grate itself in better shape (no scratches that then rust out). Side tips of the board work great for removing gunk below the top of the grate. Won't ever go back to cheap import bristles.

Great product to clean Traeger. Only used 3 times and working to creat grooves. The knotty in the wood is starting to crack or split. I will be asking for exchange. Still worth the price.

With steel brushes there can be a wire left behind on your grill surface and get stuck to food and swallowed and injure someone very badly. This will not leave any metal behind to harm anyone.

MADE IN THE U.S of A! I was very excited to purchase the Grill Dog and stop getting metal hairs or deal with nasty grease caked brushes like previous grill scrapers I've used for my outdoor grill. So far I have not been disappointed. It's easy enough to see this as just a slab of wood, but there are some design choices that one can truly appreciate. First the choice of untreated cedar wood. It is a light weight wood long used traditionally by Native Americans grilling foods on cedar planks over the fire. The wood itself is also slightly fragrant, if you like the good wood smell. Without any chemical finishes, the scraper is still smooth to the touch and the curved handle is a nice ergonomic touch. The size is good for medium and larger grills but might feel a little unwieldy for a small one. It has a small hole at the end you could use directly to hang it or tie something around the hole to accomplish the same. It has one branding mark on the one side of the scraper that is not ostentatious in any way. As with most wood scrapers, you will need to follow the directions included to burn the grooves of your grill top into the scraper and thus customizing it specifically for your grill. I've used this a few times and it is scraping just as good as non-wood scrapers so far. If this tool holds up for several years then it was worth the reasonable price.

Last year my brother was hospitalized because he swallowed a metal barb from a traditional grill brush after if was on the grill after a previous cleaning. For this reason I was in the market for a wood paddle style cleaner to avoid the same problem. Came across this one on Amazon and the price was right. Shipped quick and I used it the same day. You need to give it a couple of uses before the grooves set in, but when they do, watch out (this is my favorite grill tool). A true must have for anyone grilling. Would buy again! Please stay away from the metal brushes.

The product arrived in one piece but the handle had a big knot in it and a piece of it was missing.This causes the handle to have an angled notch where you would push down. I have not had the opportunity to use the product yet, and I can probably work around the defect, but the handle quality is a 0.

Very clearly a real, untreated, piece of cedar cut nicely into a bbq scraper. Exactly what I was hoping for. To all those that say “it’s not grooved at the end”… that’s exactly the point. After one single use it was perfectly grooved to the exact shape of my grill. It should last quite a long time, it’s thick wood, and cedar does very well outside. And even if it doesn’t last very long, the price is worth buying another.

Works well for cleaning the grill, and there's no chance of it leaving bristles behind. It works best if you let the BBQ heat up for a few minutes before cleaning the grill.

Works great. I wish the handle were a little shorter for our smaller BBQ.

Great barbeque scraper great price and you don’t have to worry about little metal bits being left behind

I was looking for a large cedar BBQ scraper and this is definitely legit. We are replacing our old scraper (in pic) which just wouldn't take any grooves on our barbecue. It does say grill dog instead of grill hog, which is slightly concerning in knowing if this is a knockoff of some legit brand or not. Maybe it was a misprint and that's why it's on amazon. But that is not really a concern to me. The concern was the quality of the wood. It is one solid piece of cedar, It is also huge!
