Needed this Black Walnut Extract to make a very old Appalachian recipe for Prune Cake. EXCELLENT PRODUCT & I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again. Great size at a good price.

So I tried the Happy Home Imitation Black Walnut and it was ok. I was curious if paying more for this true Black Walnut extract made any noticeable difference. YES! This actual extract is more than perceptably better than the imitation. If you are desiring true Black Walnut flavor, then get this Olive Nation Black Walnut Flavor Extract! The authentic flavor and the amazing aroma are fantastic. Yes, it is alcohol based which preserves its characteristics very well. Ignore anyone who says that the cooking-off of the alcohol during baking takes away the flavor - hogwash! After baking, the flavor was just as strong and much better than the water-based imitation flavor.

The flavor is just delicious. Black walnut can be very bitter, but this is not bitter. It’s sweet and yummy. It pairs well with other flavors, especially banana or chocolate. I also make my own black walnut Stevia. I use 50% black, walnut flavoring and 50% Liquid Stevia the now brand.

As advertised. Used it in a carrot cake to elevate it to the next level.

This flavoring is a must-have for any recipe using black walnuts. Without it, you often won't detect the black walnuts. I use it in black walnut pound cake, banana bread with black walnuts, and also in oatmeal cookies with black walnuts. For best flavor, I suggest adding one teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of black walnut extract. If you love black walnuts, you won't be disappointed. It does seem a bit expensive, but well worth it.

Used it to make walnut brandy. It was a little stronger and more bitter than the one used before, but I just added a little more sugar and water and it was fine.

Strong, so use sparingly until you get the taste you want in your cake batter and/or icing. I do like it. The taste brings back memories of the black walnuts cakes my maternal grandmother made in the 1950s, 1960s.

The product I received was exactly as it was described. I was also happy about the amount for this product and the price! Excellent, I'll have for quite awhile. I struggled with the 5 stars because your company packaged the bottle in bubble plastic. Small so it doesn't need a whole lot of packaging. However, the Amazon Delivery person threw this bottle onto my step! (I heard something hit the door!") I went to inspect and saw the package there. (I also want to highlight this same thing happened with the delivery from Amazon a few days prior with a different product- which I complained about too.) For your product I give a 5 STARS but the delivery was horrible. If AMAZON delivery people can't get out of their car or walk a few paces up a few stairs to deliver Amazon products then they should not be working. The botle could have shattered! I wasn't sure where these complaints should go?
