bali hi
i liked the singing and the silly shenanegans. the quick wit was very amusing. dorothy lamour really held these silly misadventures together but as usual in a man's world didn't get enough credit.

Improper reviews Keep missing the point.
I have just checked all 61 reviews and found 1 thing was lacking in each and every review. The statement Digitally Remastered was never touched upon. Folks it is OK to write a review of a movie, but also remember most folks want to buy a movie that has been restored/remastered etc.....1. What was the quality of the picture and sound, 2. then review of the movie. I have this movie on DVD by the Hollywood classics collection series, however the picture and sound leaves a lot to be desired. When watching this movie Road to Bali as put out by the above company, I feel that some how there must have been a storm or other mother nature phenomonon that would cause the the picture and sound to be as bad as this item I have. Remember I have this Item not as pictured but an earlier release by Madacy Entertainment Group, that should have been taken out behind the barn and shot. Watching this movie reminds me of the days when cable TV was unheard of. My antenna or rabbit ears appear out of whack. So when reviews of this movie or for that matter any movie, we need to know your honest opinion of the quality of PICTURE & SOUND. When I do get this item which I'm just waiting for it to arrive in the mail, I will update this review with the proper information, not just some whimps/whippersnappers idea of what the movies is all about. Most of us that grew up knowing what the movie is all about and that is why we purchase them. Most of what I have read here indicates that most who have purchased "The Road To Bali" rated it not having grew up in this era and try to rate these types of movies based upon todays standards which is totally wrong. Today's movies while most are good have less acting and talent then those created in an era where real actors knew how to act and show it. Most of today's movies rely on sound effects more than good acting, granted sound effects are great don't get me wrong. But poor acting really makes for a bad motion picture. I have a home theater 6.1 surround sound, granted a lot of the older era motion pictures are either MONO or STEREO. Please when judging a movie, judge it for content, and for the era it was made, and don't forget the sensors back then was a whole lot more stricter then they are today, what they could get away with. And on that note anything with Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Dorthy Lamour are real gems for the day in which they were made. The Road movies are real good for what they are, and for what they were made for. Judge them based on the time they were made and what the rules were during the era at the time. Review movies based on content, picture, quality of picture and sound so the rest of us can get a better Idea if we want to purchase these items with confidence that we are getting the best bang for our buck.UPDATE: This copy of Road to Bali is outstanding, the restoration shows that. Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Dorthy Lamour sparkle in this gem, not a waste of money. The picture has been greatly enhanced, the sound is also great, no pops, hisses but rock solid. The Movie the 6th in the series Road pictures is the only Road move filmed in Technicolor. This copy lives up to the Universal collection of Road movies. Don't pass it up. If you like Bob Hope movies then spend your money with satisfaction that the Color, sound, and picture is Rock solid.Synopsis :Bob Hope and Bing are two song and dance men who try escape two shot gun weddings by landing a job as divers. They meet up with Princess Lala (Dorthy Lamour) and the fun begins.
