Gator Hard Shell Folding Bead Tire

I've been using Continental 4000 GTs for a few years now and decided to switch to Hardshells for more flat protection. I now have these tires on two of my three bikes, one with over 3,000 miles and not a single flat yet. I highly recommend these tires for anyone who rides high miles and wants more flat protection.

I have used these tires for years. I'm thinking more than ten years, possibly 15+. I only bike about 1.5-3 hours a week now. I used them when I was doing serious training for many more hours as well. I don't recall ever flatting. -in fact I haven't carried tube repair stuff for a long time. I have found them a little difficult to put on when new, due to packaging compression. Probably for someone more skilled, younger with hands that consistently work better it may not be an issue. I will continue to use these unless I find a better deal.

Bought these as a replacement for the same brand already on my husband's bike. The first set lasted 4 yrs! He really loves this product. Installing them for the first time is quite challenging; however, once they are on, they are perfect.

I bought a pair of these tires to replace an old pair GatorSkin tires that lasted long enough to wear all the way through the rubber layer. On my second ride with this tire, (presumably) a rock created a deep V-shaped cut through the rubber layer and the casing and through the inner tube. This new tire is now useless. Even if I patched the inner tube, there would still be a sizeable hole in it exposing the inner tube. I would expect a $60 kevlar-lined tire to be more puncture-resistant.

1 1/2 years no flats! 3 rides a week 22 miles each!

If you are distance rider like I am and don’t like changing tires on the side of the road this is the tire to buy. I have put 200 plus miles on them with no flats . Other tires I would have had a least 3 flats by now. I will never buy another tire . This will be my go to tire for now on.

These were a gift so I know nothing of them but I get tired of your asking so I'm writing this.

Although Continental claims that this tyre has rolling resistance but the fact is that main focus is only to prevent punctures. They are as tough as gardening pipe. They can convert a road bike to a gravel bike. DO NOT expect a very good average speed on them as they are extremely hard tyres.

This is my go to for road cycling tires. Never had a puncture and I get 3000-4000 km’s
