Seem practical and useful

Don’t buy these. I’ve purchased dozens of camping “forever matches”. Mostly because I lose them. These don’t spark. It’s almost like the flint and striker don’t work together. My guess is the striker isn’t the right ferrous metal to make a spark. Thought they were a deal. Straight to the bin.

What is one of the most important things you need to survive in the wilderness? FIRE! THIS product delivers. Small and easy to take, this single item can provide you with that needed item. It doesn't take long to master how to use this tool. Once learned, you can consistently get a light and use to start a fire. Was initially concerned when reading reviews by others. After just a few minutes I realize 'they' might be the problem vs. this tool. Both the wife unit and I were able to light this permanent match after just a few tries, and now can consistently light it on the first try. Great product and can't wait to take it out in the wild. Plan to give others in the 5-pack away to family and close friends. Looks like we have our stocking stuffers all figured out for this year. What a unique and handy gift to give! Cheers!

The SURVIVE Permanent Match is a good value for the money and works exceptionally well. I was disappointed that the silver casing was plastic. I assumed it was metal. Other than the plastic outer part I love the product and it's easy to strike.

I initially wrote a one star review but after the frustration wore off and I got more of a chance to practice and mess around with this match-lighter, I change my mind. It takes some practice for sure but it’s not that bad. My main problem is you can’t tell how much fuel is in the tank so it’s easy to overfill. Once you overfill you are going to have a bad time. My other problem is the wick is way way too hard to replace. They make it look easy in the video but it is an absolute nightmare. Those two issues aside this gadget is pretty awesome. Everyone I show it to loves it. It’s a cool part of my keychain now and who knows- I might need it one day. I got 5 of these things for 20$ so I can’t be THAT disappointed. Three stars seems fair enough because of the two annoying problems. I still kind of regret not buying a different brand instead. I saw some cool ones when searching. I might have to start a collection.

The tiny thumbscrews are difficult to tighten and loosen. A larger knob would really help. On several occasions, I had to use pliers to unscrew the match, and I was careful not to cross-thread any of them. Speaking of which, a couple of them were very difficult to keep from cross-threading. At almost every attempt to screw them in straight, they would suddenly cant and try to go in at an angle. I tried turning them backwards (in the unscrewing direction) to feel for the threads to align, but I couldn't feel it. Finally, most egregious, is that two of the 5 containers leak. One leaks so fast that I can't get it filled fast enough to see the fluid pooled in the bottom of the canister, much less to the midpoint as the instructions indicate. The other leaks more slowly, and I didn't realize it at first. I filled the container according to the instructions, wiped up what I thought must be spillage, and started to break-in the flint. On the 3rd or 4th strike, the match lit, but so did the bottom of the canister. It began to burn my hand. After I extinguished the flame, I held the canister high and watched as fuel slowly pooled and dripped from the bottom. So, after this experience, I decided that these are unreliable garbage and a safety hazard. I proceeded to process a return, and to my surprise, they wanted me to ship them back even though I have already poured fluid in them. I'm not 100% on laws about shipping flammable liquids, but I'm pretty sure that I can't ship anything that is leaking fuel. I guess the set was cheap enough that I can throw the leaking ones away and hope that the other ones don't fail, but I don't have much faith in that idea. I'll probably find another brand that works as advertised and get rid of all 5 of these. The savings isn't worth the burns.

Excellent lights every time

These are perfect for anyone that needs a flame or to light a fire. Some folks have problems but these are usually because they don't understand how to use these. First you MUST scrape the black covering that is painted over the striking surface then use slight force on the match part that is held at about 30 degrees and SLOWLY strike downwards. You will get lots of sparks. Now half fill the chamber with lighter fuel (Swan or Zippo) replace the match and wait about 2 minutes, remove the match, hold the main body , top and bottom, (cover the hole) and strike the match SLOWLY downwards and if you have done it right your Match will be lit. Remember to blow it out before putting it back into the main section. Ease of use: Simple
