Chemical Guys, TORQ R5 Dual-Action Backing Plate, Hyper Flex, Red, 3 in

Item fit on my dual action polisher and works well.

This little backing plate is nice quality and works great. Durable construction and I had no quality or durability issues with any aspect of it. I bought this to use with 3" CarPro glass polishing pads on my Harbor Freight dual action polisher (Porter Cable 7424 knockoff), and it's perfect for that application. The combination of a small polishing pad on a small backing plate allowed me to get very close to corners and edges when polishing water spots off my windows. I used a larger pad and backing plate combination to polish the vast majority of the glass, but without the small pad and backing plate I would have had to polish the corners of my windows by hand, which would be a huge amount of work. A small polishing pad and backing plate can also be helpful in polishing out light scratches in glass, as the smaller size allows you to apply more pressure to the area. I also tried the included adapter chucked in a drill just to try it out. It works just fine. For most applications I'll probably use my dual action polisher, but if you needed to polish something using a drill rather than a DA, this would allow you to do it. I suppose it could be handy for someone who just wants to polish headlight lenses or trim pieces and doesn't need a dual action movement to get the job done.

I can’t comment on durability as I have only just begun to use them. I turn wood bowls and sanding is the least interesting, but most important part of the process. I bought several of these backing plates and have attached different velcro backed grits separately to each, then labeled the yellow rim with the grit number. The flexibility of the sponge backing makes speedy work of contoured bowl shapes. I just use a standard light weight battery powered drill and rotate three batteries on two chargers to that I can sand for long periods.

Wow, didn't expect this kind of quality for the price. I've been able to clean anything I spill on it, dropped it face down on carbon fiber cloth and drove over it. Velcro still sticks and it still spins straight. Minus one star because screwing the stem in was a little difficult.

Does a nice job when working of defogging your headlights since there's some sanding that needs t be done.

The backing plate on my polisher wore out. I could not find a replacement anywhere. This backing plate is a perfect replacement; it is as good or better than the original.

I don't think I would use this to polish a whole car but it was great for polishing my headlights with Chemical Guys Headlight Restore and Protect (https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guys-GAP11516-Headlight-Restore/dp/B06ZYGJ4W8/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=Headlight+Restore+and+Protect&qid=1561218728&s=gateway&sr=8-6). In the picture you can see I used the Chemical Brother 4" Hex-Logic Medium-Heavy Cutting Pad (https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guys-BUFX_102_HEX4-Hex-Logic-Medium-Heavy/dp/B003Z9VMX2/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Hex-Logic+Medium-Heavy+Cutting+Pad+4%22&qid=1561218787&s=gateway&sr=8-1). My tip would be to keep the drill close to your body and not put too much pressure on the headlights themselves especially mine as they have been beaten down by the Florida sun for 15 years.

Amazing attachment for my drill using the hex logic pad and it’s been amazing to attach and easy to use but wish Im came with instruction how to attach it
