Aftermarket Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob for my 2000 Tahoe.
After 14 years of owning my Tahoe, both remote key fobs for my Tahoe stopped working. According to the Internet, GM dealers want several hundred dollars, per unit, to replace and program them. My local hardware store wanted $89.95, per fob. They were kind enough to provide me with the instruction sheet, showing how I could program it myself. I checked online and most vendors were quoting $45 to $60 for each fob. One of Amazon's partners, "We Got Remotes", had the units for $32.80 each, with a 10% discount and included free shipping. Total cost for both fobs was $59.06! I ordered two of fobs. We are Amazon Prime customers, so the fobs were delivered to my door, in only two days. The package also included the same, simple programming instructions that I had received from my local hardware store. Gee, they are exactly the same size and looked exactly like the fobs from GM, including the same printing on the back, with one exception. The new fobs also have a "1" printed on the back. Both fobs were programmed and working in less than two minutes! I have used the fobs for a month and they are working fine, with no issues. Excellent service and support from Amazon and "We Got Remotes"! I highly recommend both companies and their products.

Way better than the other knockoffs available
This is as close to OEM as you will get, I don't think they are true OEM because they don't have the correct markings on the board inside. But none the less they work and great range.

A Fob for the Ages
I just got the truck and the fob was in bad shape. The OEM was pretty expensive, so I did what I often do - hit Amazon. After reading the reviews, I decided to go with this item. Glad I did. Just make sure you get the right OEM number on the back of your original remote - they make a couple of versions and they are NOT compatible. The price was right and it arrived before the promised date. Some reviewers commented that the case was garbage - it seems to be the same quality and materials as the OEM. The casing was fine.I admit I was leery about the programming. Let's just say that unless someone has access to your truck or car, they aren't going to be able to program this remote to your vehicle. The instructions were clear and direct, simple to follow. In fact, I was surprised that it was so easy. Took less than a minute.Range isn't bad - 15 to 20 feet. And let's be honest, who needs or even WANTS a remote to open the door from a greater distance? The panic button feature is the only possible need for range, and it's likely that you are going to be somewhat close to your vehicle when you need it.For less than $40, I replaced a fob that would have been quite a bit more from a Chevy dealer. It's as solid as the original. It works. Thanks Amazon.UPDATE: Range.Perhaps there was a lunar tide issue or some such oddity effecting radio transmissions when I tested the remote. The other night I was walking my dog and reached into my pocket for a treat (we are working on reinforcing come, stay, heel). I hit the fob and unlocked the truck from at least 40 or 50 feet away.Range is easily twice the 20 feet or so I originally posted.

works great, exactly as described
So far, (after only 1 week or so), this works great. One note for potential buyers - it took me a minute to figure this out, but at least for older trucks (have a 99 2nd half 5.3L Silverado) if you program 1 key, you must program ALL your keys while the truck is in programming mode... otherwise, all the ones that were previously programmed will stop working.I had 2 older key fobs - one working and one not - and one other new key fob - programmed all 3 working ones at same time, and all work great now!

Worked Perfect
Worked perfect the first time! Pleasantly surprised. Last time it took about an hour to program....guess sometimes you get lucky. Product quality is more than acceptable for the wear and tear these things take. This is my third purchase of the same item. They seem to last about 5 years in my experience.

Easy to Program - Casing VERY Fragile and Easily Broken
I am revising my original review of this product. The bottom paragraph is my original review, and everything there is still true. However, I am now writing about the durability of the product. The plastic casing for the remote control is very fragile, particularly around the seam where the two halves connect. I ordered two key fobs and both of them are chipped and cracked all the way around the edges. This has happened through normal wear and tear, the occasional dropping of keys on the floor etc... One of my key fobs will no longer stay closed because so many chips and cracks have taken place round the seam.I owned the original fobs for 13 years before I ordered replacements. Those casing never cracked or broke. I ordered replacements because I lost one. I've owned these new ones for a very few months and they are already falling apart. I'd definitely recommend searching for another brand.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I purchased 2 key fobs to replace both of the original fobs my Suburban came with in 2000. These were identical to the OEM key fobs I've used for 13 years. The directions were easy to understand and programming them was a snap. They are a perfect replacement.
