It is very simple to use. The clamp works rather like a claw and it's relatively easy to get the pill in the centre. Close the top and push the handles firmly together and the pill cuts with no problem leaving the two halves in the two sections of the cutter. This works best, I think, with large pills. I have not tried it with small ones which might be difficult to centre and hold in place. Although the manufacturer states the blade will last a lifetime I am sceptical it would. But, it will, I am certain, have a longer life than the usual ones on the market. It's good quality, does the job well and is worth the money (expensive though that seems). When you cut the tabs, try to keep the cutter on a flat surface as you bring the blades together otherwise the tabs can slip.
