I moved to the city and after a few months of living here I noticed my hair started to fall out and wasn't as thick anymore, it would feel grease and matted only a few hours of washing it. I was having problems with large amounts of dandruff on my head. I was starting to get so upset, and would honestly cry every time I took a shower and would see how much hair was covering the shower floor. I take very good care of my long, thick and shiny hair and now all the sudden it's thinning out and the roots are greasy while the ends are dry and all tangled up to the point where I couldn't even run a brush through it, even after using lots of conditioner. Getting desperate I went and spent hundreds of dollars on high brand shampoos and conditioners and nothing would work so I came to the realization that my hair was probably just changing and I had to get used to it. Not only being upset about that, I also noticed my face was breaking out which I never had problems with this before moving. Also over all my skin was feeling so rough and dry even after using lotion everyday. I thought maybe all this had something to do with my poor eating habits after I moved. So I started eating very healthy and cut sugar out of my diet completely. After 5 months all that happened was I lost weight, there was still no change in my hair or skin. Then one day someone told me about city water and they said it was "hard water" and how much it can take a heavy toll on skin and hair. Not having the money to install a water system through the whole house I decided to get on Amazon in hopes to find a shower head that had a built in water filter that was easy to replace when needed. Then I stumbled on to this product and I can not even put into words how happy I'am and how much gratitude I have for this shower. filter. It saved my hair and skin. Honestly, after just 1 shower I noticed how much softer my skin was and after just 7 showers all of the pimples on my face were gone and I was using the same face wash I was using before. The best part of it all was just after 10 showers the nice, shiny and thick hair that I always had was finally back!!! There was no more dandruff, it wasn't greasy or matted anymore, it stopped falling out completely and no more tangles. I don't even have to use conditioner anymore because this filter makes me hair so soft I can run a brush right through it with ease! The shower head that you can buy from the same company that goes with this filter is so easy to install and the filter itself is a breeze to replace! I really wish I would have known about this filter before I spent so much money on high end shampoo and conditioner. I can not believe how cheap this filter is compared to what an amazing job it dose. The best part is you only need to change it every six months. $11.99 every 6 months is a great price to pay to have nicer hair and skin. One also already comes with the shower head! I Will never buy anything but Culligan shower filters for the rest of my life! I could not be more happy with this product and would rate it 100,000 stars if I could!

I know, "they" say that no shower filters really soften the water. I don't know what to tell you about that; I've been using these filters for years and every time I replace one, the old one is full of sediment and minerals. So it is removing at least some of the minerals from my very hard water.They also remove chlorine. And as a result my skin and hair are less dry, skin less irritated, hair less crunchy. They do the job and I will keep using them. I can tell when one wears out and I need a replacement. Stick with the name brand, the generics have less copper in them and won't work as long.

I've been using these for a few years now, they noticeably affect the hardness of the water, and you can, especially for the first few weeks, really feel the difference..at least we can.So the filter does work, no doubt about it, and all you have to do is shake it out after a few weeks in your sink, to see all of the gunk and brownish-colored impurities it traps. That stuff would otherwise be in your hair and skin - which is just gross (no one should shower or drink unfiltered tap water in this day and age).It removes the chlorine smell and will have a positive effect on your hair and skin over time (if not immediately).A water source filtration system is ideal of course, but if you rent or are unable to buy one, this is the next best thing.My one complaint is that they don't last all that long, it's hard to tell just how long they do work at an optimal level, so I just go by the "feel" of the water (maybe 3 months at best).It is advised to turn it over after a month or two, if not sooner, shake it out and knock it against your sink for a while, to loosen up the particles inside and get some of the dirt out, then run your shower for a minute or two before actually taking a shower (you'll see a lot of brown water come out again initially, before it turns clear again).I would also prefer recyclable materials be used (thus the 4 star rating).

I bought an off brand refill of these and it was noticeably worse. We have very hard chlorinated city water and the Culligan filter works to help filter out the minerals that make our skin dry and buildup in our hair. I just wish these came in a two or more pack.

This is a water filter I use on my shower head and it helps filter out minerals and chlorine. It's great it stops the itchiness on my scalp and my body.
