Good Book but one minor problem
The book itself is very good and interesting however the metal keeping the book together was all messed up when I received it, it was bent and distorted to the point where I wouldn’t be able to put it back without a problem and I don’t know if it happened during the delivery, however I’m a little disappointed in this because I was very excited about receiving the book, and I also bought the Dutch oven that it was a part of and that came in with no problems whatsoever. I can still use the book, but I’m just disappointed in this little problem.

Wonderful Cookbook
Great, easy to make, recipes! The explanation of how to use the dutch oven was very detailed and allowed me to get started using mine correctly right away. I highly recommend this book if you are interested in getting started with the Dutch Oven. Some of these recipes I have even started using at home in my regular oven. The biscuit recipe is particularly good!

Great for campers. I don't recommend this for the home cook who is using cast iron cookware.
I started cooking w/ cast iron pans a few months ago. This was the first cookbook I ordered specifically for cast iron. While it's a decent book, it is probably more helpful to someone who uses their cast iron for camping. I cook on a glass top stove w/ an oven. So, a book telling me to add coals to the lid isn't overly helpful. There are some recipes that are helpful & other's that I can work w/ as far as determining cooking time. However, I do not recommend this book for someone who is only cooking at home. If you are a camper, then I would tell you to pick this up. It's has all the info you need on the origin of cast iron cookware, how to season it, & how to clean it. Of course, every single cookbook that is geared towards cast iron cookware has the same information. I don't know why they all feel the need to put this in every cookbook. Can't they simply print a cookbook w/ the recipes in it. I have been married over 40 years & have many cookbooks. They don't all contain information on how pans are made, what they were used for, & how to clean them. I get that information w/ the pans when I buy them. You get that information w/ your cast iron pans when you buy them. So, just know, if you buy this book, you'll get yet another lessen on where cast iron comes from. I will say that I highly recommend purchasing Lodge cast iron cookware. It's manufactured in the US. I've read that cast iron made in other countries could contain questionable metals that aren't allowed under US requirements.

Lots of recipes!
Lots of recipes. Some of them are a bit too much "stuff out of cans" but there is quite a variety of good recipes that are definitely geared for the Dutch Oven but can be used w/o a Dutch oven as well. It's spiral-bound at the top - I'd prefer a much sturdier cover, especially since most of us are going to use it for camping so it's bound to get wet at some point.

Can't be a Dutch Oven Cook without this Cook Book.
This is a Great cookbook for the Dutch Oven beginner. There is not a bad recipe in it. I have made at least 10 of them. All great. The reason I re-purchased this cookbook is, I thought I lost it. Just couldn't be with out a copy, so I had to re-purchase it.

Good cookbook
Cooking with a Dutch Oven requires a bit of skill and finesse; which I am working on. This book has some good recipes to try and gain confidence with. I will be trying more of them, however, I am a meat eater and there re some recipes which do not include this valuable commodity.

Not bad... but not great
The recipes are OK. But quite a few are the same as the recipes that are in the "101" cookbook that came with my Lodge Camp Dutch Oven. There is some history of the camp dutch oven, and some good instructions on choosing one, how to season it, and how to use it. No pictures, so it's not really visually stimulating.

Yeah, buy it. Its got some worthwhile ideas.
Ive read throu this briefly, now my jaw hurts from drooling over the recipes. Some instructions are a bit imprecise, with "season to taste" a common phrasei suppose this fits, cooking orer a fire, and with charcoal. I'm looking forward to trying some of these out. Want to try most the crumbles, cornbreads, stees and chilli.
