Okinawan Hawaiian Purple Sweet Potatoes 3 Lbs.

My husband and I were introduced to these purple sweet potatoes when we were vacationing on Kauai. We love the sweet potatoes and were happy to find we could order them on Amazon. The potatoes came a day early and were fresh and delicious. We will be ordering these again especially when we can't get them from our local Sprouts store.

I bought these in February and started sprouting them in March. Nothing had sprouted at all.

My family MD told me to buy these. His mother went strict Paleo, after several of their relatives died of diabetes. She used these purple yams as the ONLY carb on her diet -- and successfully avoided diabetes! Diabetes is hereditary & common in their country. But they can't stand to quit carbs, especially rice. My husband is from that country; his mother died of diabetes. His pre-diabetes is getting worse due to carbs. I'm sure if he switches to these yams, it will help ! We got 3 pounds, 4 big potatoes. Perfect sized order for 2 seniors. Arrived quickly, in good condition, well-packaged. Incredibly delicious! My husband and I ate them for six meals, they were perfect. Bake, nuke, slice & fry, fabulous.

Ordering fresh produce from Hawaii to Pennsylvania you can't expect things to be perfect. However the 4 potatoes that were rotten were practically liquid (I assume they were bad prior to shipping, it didn't happen during their trip). The remaining potatoes were vibrant, colorful and delicious.

I bought these to plant. no slips, no returns, no refund. reviews are doctored until you buy. filter your reviews by star rating and only believe the ones under three stars.

These are big and beautiful!!! Arrived early! I'm super satisfied!!! I will update you when I get some slips!!! Here's a picture of the largest one in my hand!

Update: do not buy to grow slips. I divided them up and have tried grow slips from each one in a different way, and no progress on any of them. I should have just eaten the potatoes, or eaten the $30. I’m 100% certain these are sprayed to prevent sprouting.I was pretty worried about blowing around $30 after reading all the reviews, but this is my favorite vegetable of all time so I really wanted to grow it at home. I received 2 medium/lg and 2 very large potatoes in great condition.Now I just want to see if I can get slips from them. None of the other reviews that I saw indicated success planting them, but I’m going to try and (hopefully) remember to update to let others know if I have any luck! I hope the seller info is honest and that these are not irradiated to prevent sprouting!

One of my favorite garden channels raved about the violet-fleshed Okinawan sweet potatoes. Since he reliably produces such great content and declared the Okinawan was his FAVORITE variety, I was eager to give them a try, too.I was so confident, I placed a double order. Unfortunately, my confidence was misplaced. Not only were these sweet potatoes much smaller in size than expected, several had already begun to rot in transit. I was actually planning to keep these in my root cellar until the Spring planting. But since they are of such poor quality, I’m feeding those that haven’t rotted yet… TO MY DOGS. 👎👎👎 SMH
