Start-X Remote Starter Kit for Ford F-Series Trucks, Expedition & More

Ok so I purchased this for my Wife and her F150 2013 ECO BOOST. Now I purchased a different remote control starter kit that claimed to be plug and play before however it was not.. and would not work even 10% of the time, so I was sceptical about this easy start remote starter kit. Suprisingly it installed very quickly and worked the very first time I attempted to start the truck. Three presses of the lock button and the truck starts right up. To turn the truck off without getting in you have to press the lock button again three times and it will shut down. Be carefull when exiting the car and going into a store or work as Ive had the turck start up and it will run for about 10 Minutes before the computer will shut it down unless you notice and turn it off yourself. Another thing I have noticed is if you remote start the truck and get in, decide you arent going anywhere and havent moved the vehicle you will not be able to turn it off with the key... you have to press the lock button three times or just move the car forward or backward then put it back in park and it will turn off with the key. Strange but whatever I suppose, all in all its been a god send for my wife in the mornings with a frozen truck window that will defrost from the comfort of the kitchen lol. It does have limited range, of whatever you can get your keyfob to lock the doors at lol, mine is about 40 feet or so. We park right infront of the house so it works great. Very happy with the overall application of the remote starter.

Works exactly as described. Installation was very straight forward. I watched a video of someone else installing it for reference. I had it instslled in about 30min, and programming maybe took 2min. Quality overall was very good. All wiring was bundled and wrapped to give it an oem feel. As far as functionality, it works perfect. 3 lock presses on the key fob to start/shut off.

Installed on a 2011 Ford Edge, took about 2 hrs. Very easy overall especially if you've had some experience removing panels and doing any radio wiring, CarPlay or backup camera installs etc. The kit comes with the plastic pry tool which was nice. Tip: The wiring harness has a 4-pin and 7-pin connector that both attach to the back of the ignition cylinder. In videos people reach up from under the dash to pull the clips out from the back of the cylinder which I found nearly impossible as I couldn't see and couldn't get my fingers in the right spot with enough leverage to pull... instead, take the ignition cylinder out. Remove the strip of paneling along the right leg of the driver and around the ignition and you'll see screws to remove, the cylinder will come right out and you'll have easy access to the rear to unplug the 4-pin and 7-pin connectors and then reconnect per the rest of the instructions. The programming was easy but took me two attempts (the first attempt ended with the car running and unable to shut off until I just removed the wires from the module and started over). Make sure you have both original keys. Very happy that this allows use of the existing keys, the car is started by pressing lock 3 times.

The kit was literally plug an play with my 2011 3.5 Ecoboost F-150. This took me exactly an hour and a half to install. Most of that time was spent trying to find a 5.5mm socket. Actual time spent dinking around with it was about 30 minutes. Took a star off because the instructions are woefully inadequate. No pictures of the plugs that need to be pulled or where they're at. I watched a 3rd party YouTube video on it (the official video guide is also really bad). If you watch a decent video you'll find that the installation is super easy. The programming took me two tries. I misread part of the instructions the first try. The process is also really easy. Just gotta read the instructions completely BEFORE YOU START. Don't try to program while reading. It won't work. The timing is precise. The thing works. Triple press lock on your key and it starts. Triple press again and it stops. The truck remains running if you open the door. You can put your key in the ignition and turn it to run and drive away seemlessly. Pressing the brake without the key in the ignition set to run will instantly shut the truck off. Comes with a hood actuated interuptor. It's optional and I did not install it. I did clean off the fuse box and put the warning label on there though.

Easy to install. Plug and play no extra remote works perfect with the factory remote. Press the lock button 3 times the car starts. I install it on 2014 Ford Explorer and i had to take off the plastic cover under the steering wheel to reach the last harness to connect. Other than that I didn’t dismantle anything else or cut any wires. They provide instructions and have great customer service I reached out for them for the last harness and they replay quickly. Once install u ll have to program it with the instructions included. If any problems just contact them and they help u out. I had it more than 3 months and no problem no check engine no failure to start or any error messages on the car. Also to mention that it has auto shut off after 15 minutes so if u started the car by accident or started and forgot it it won’t run after 15 minutes. My Ford doesn’t have a start button it starts with the key so when u started the car through the remote u have to put the key and turn it to on position and after that hit the brake pedal. If the key is not put and switch to on it shouts off the car immediately when u press the brake pedal witch is very good safety future. Recommend to anyone who needs a remote starter.

2013 F-150 XLT. This review is being written about 45 mins after initial install. Installation was very straight forward, the most difficult part of it is accessing the two connections by the ignition barrel. It involved removing two panels plus the lower shroud of the steering column (that was tricky to get back on). Once that was done, I just followed the programming steps in the direction. My only hiccup was that my truck shut down (would not recognize my keys when inserted into the ignition) I had to wait for about 5 mins after going thru the lock unlocked cycle of the truck before it started working again, during all this the remote-x module just sat there patiently waiting for the two keys to be inserted and turn to on/run. Anyway when all was said and done, I tested the function 5+ times, 3X”s lock to start the truck, 3X”s lock to shut it off. Verified that to drive the truck you need to put in the key, turn to on/run step on the brake and off you go. With no key in the ignition, stepping on the brake shuts the truck off. We’ll see how well it holds up, hopefully I never have to even think about it again.

Installed on a 2014 f150. It is really plug and play took about 30 minutes to install and programming was very easy just make sure you have 2 master keys for your vehicle for it to work.

It can be a bit confusing that Amazon lists this as fitting a 2015 Explorer when the product description states 2011–2014, but I can confirm that it does work with a 2015 Explorer. The installation instructions are not accurate regarding the ignition wiring location. I followed a YouTube video titled “3X LOCK PLUG & PLAY REMOTE START 2011–2015 FORD EXPLORER,” which made the installation much clearer. The key fob programming sequence needs to be followed exactly as instructed, and it may take a few attempts, so don’t get discouraged. Once completed, everything worked as expected. Overall, this is a really good value and saved me a significant amount of money compared to having it professionally installed.

Super easy to install, from start to finish it was only 25 minutes. Everything was plug and play. Took a couple tries to program with the keys, just make sure you listen for 3, and only 3, chimes. My truck would chime 4 times and once the fourth happens it won’t program. Zip tied everything up under the dash and it all works great. Would definitely recommend for anyone that wants a remote starter.

Advertised correctly, comes with a link to an install instruction. Presuming you get your exact make/model I don't see why this would be a problem on any vehicle. Neat and tidy inline plug kinda install. I've got a bit of experience with cars and electronics but really anyone should be able to do this with the tools provided and a basic consumer grade toolkit. Make sure you have two legit keys already as that is required in the programing step. Just as if you were going to program a replacement remote you need to do it before you lose one of your original ones. Need two proper keys to program a 3rd (which is essentially how this works I would guess). Now hurry up and make one for a 2007 Xterra please.

It works great, as described. The instructions that come with it are not the best, there’s a video for each model vehicle on their website. Just happy it works tbh 🤙🏻

Very simple install only have to take the steering column shroud off and its all plug and play. I took the knee bolster off to help run the harness but you can lay underneath and fish it through without. You WILL need 2 oem keys that are able to start the truck to be able to program the remote start. Just follow the instructions and you will have a working remote start in under an hour and only a few hundred bucks.
