Working well for

I use a Brita pitcher for my sons bottles. My stock brita filter that came w the pitcher was on 25% so I knew I needed some more. I bought some from Walmart and they were not as universal as they claimed. So I got these from Amazon. They fit right in and have that “plus sign” fit at the bottom so I knew they’d fit. I ran it under the water for a little while and then filtered three test runs in the pitcher. The first one was grey water. The second was better and the third was better. Observations: 1) one of the filter circles at the bottom just streams water out, it doesn’t trickle out the others. Could be a placement issues maybe just need to shake the filter a little? 2) my brita pitcher filter sensor does not recognize the filter, so it won’t tell me when it’s going bad. Maybe that will change once it has time to recognize it, as I only put it in there a tiny bit ago. Otherwise I guess these are ok? I don’t think any of us have water testing lab equipment hanging around our kitchens to know if it’s working or not. Maybe I will order a water quality test. I actually think my town gives them out for free once a year. I’ll look into it. Update two years worth of use: I have purchased this set three times, one of which I gave to my mom. I just placed my fourth order. In between orders is about 6 months plus or minus a week. I have truly never had any issue. I’ve reread my original review and that water streaming out from the filter thing was just a one off I never encountered that again. My Brita also absolutely tells me when it’s going bad. I just wasn’t resetting it properly. They fit perfectly and tightly. I have to run them under water at first then do several test fills to let the charcoal burn off. Once that is done I do not see any colored water again. I personally drink the water once in awhile but it’s predominantly used for my now second child’s bottles, or just for her for water. I don’t really understand the 1 and 2 start reviews. Yes sometimes a greysish residue builds up in the top of the brita, but it’s just charcoal. And if it’s not IN water tank who cares? I don’t know. I’ve been ordering these for two years and have never given anything a second thought. As long as I’m using a brita I will use these.

Filters work well. No problem with submerging in water for 15 minutes before inserting to pitcher.

The water is clear and tastes good. No different to original Brita cartridges.

I do not give 5 because there are few carbon grains released, not a big deal.

Very good value for the cost compared to retail. So far, it performs well from what I can detect, but it may be too early to rate just yet, so only gave it 4 stars. Make sure to follow directions re: soaking filter & running a couple of pitchers through filter first though.

Because I use these filters it's an item I like to keep in stock at home. The cost is half the price of the Brita brand filters however, the time between changing the filters is also cut in half. They recommend changing the filter each month OR after 60 gallons of water. I will know more after I go through the first one. These filters come in a box of six that looks like a No-Name brand. I'm looking forward to giving them a try.
