SYLVANIA Capsylite Halogen G9 Lamp / Halogen Bulb with UV Filter / Capsule G9 Base / 40 Watt / 900 K – soft white

Just received and installed in my oven. My wall oven is a Sears Kenmore Elite. OK, so Sears doesn't really make appliances, it's probably a Kitchenaid, or looks very much like one. First of all Sears parts.com could not identify the bulb required for my oven, even though I gave them the model and serial #'s. I think it may have been the rep rather than the site, as I called a Sears store and they were able to tell me the type of bulb and that one bulb would cost $21.66. I need two. Wow, that's rather expensive for a bulb said I, let me do some research. No, I did not want them to order me two right away. So, I find these bulbs on Amazon, receive them in two days, install and voila, I have light in my oven. The bulbs are installed behind a thick glass cover plate that was very easy to remove and replace after installing the bulb. Wear gloves and try not to look directly at the bulb when lit :-). Granted, I will need to update this review sometime in the future to report the bulbs longevity, but for now I'm happy and feel l paid a much more reasonable price.

After reading the review from another purchaser of this bulb, I decided to try it as a replacement bulb in my 27" Electrolux Wall Oven. This bulb is not listed as a replacement by the manufacturer, but the one that is listed is much more expensive and did not hold up. My oven blew two original bulbs at one time. So, I decided to try this even though it had a slighly different base and I wasn't sure it would hold up to the heat. So far I have tried this as a replacement in my oven using normal baking cycles and it has held up fine. However, to date I have not put it through the self cleaning phase of the oven. Hopefully, it will withstand this also and I will update this review after doing so.

I needed a replacement for one of the two bulbs in my 1 year old Kitchenaid oven, and was shocked to see that Kitchenaid wanted about $50 for this bulb. Other appliance web sites wanted $35 and up including shipping. While there were few markings on the old bulb, I was able to figure it out, and for $6 my problem was solved, and chances are this name brand bulb is better than the generic that came with the oven. When you think about it, there's nothing special about a Kitchenaid bulb -- not like they manufacture their own. Got lucky on this one. BTW, the part number that appliance manufacturers use is W10472384 -- its a Whirlpool part number.

Home Depot and Lowes sell other manufacturer G9 light bulbs but not Sylvania. My GE hood came with Sylvania bulbs originally. In comparison to other manufacturer bulbs these produce a better a brighter light and do not flicker like others. On the other hand they don't seem to last nearly as long as other types of light bulbs. I believe this is due to the heat they generate and the fact there is very little room to dissipate that heat in the housing on the vent hood. You might get more longevity in other appliance applications.

My electrolex 30" double wall oven lights burned out. I contacted electrolux to determine the type of halogen bulb to replace them with and they could not provide the information. They would only sell the bulb and entire module which was $80 each. Replacing the module requires a service visit where they must pull the oven out of the wall to complete the installation. After some research we discovered the module replacement is only necessary in a sealed light system which we do not have. These lights worked perfectly. Followed the instructions in our service manual. Turned off the power to the oven. Removed the light cover. Pulled out the burnt out lamp. Carefully installed the lamp while holding it with a paper towel. Works like new. $16 purchase for 2 bulbs saved us about a $260 service/install visit.

I was looking for a replacement bulb for my favorite Ikea lamp (ANTIFONI, no longer sold) and I was worried I was going to have to replace the lamp altogether if I didn't find a bulb. It really looks more complicated than it is. I ordered the Sylvania bulb solely based on its similar shaped and it worked! I'm glad I get to keep my favorite lamp and will keep ordering replacement bulbs here. I'm including a picture of the lamp in case anyone else runs into a similar problem, hope it helps!

I didn't put the fixture in, but I have to replace the bulbs when they go out. Fortunately, these bulbs do seem to last a long time. Received as ordered, fit perfectly, and works great.

This light bulb is hard to find, and, when you do, it is rather expensive. Yet, I found it here! My husband gave me a desk lamp, that requires this light bulb. Yes, they do tend to burn out easily. Now, if they do, burn out. I can find them. I got the bulb from Light International. I will be back for more.
