Best locking tuners on the market.
I replace the tuners on almost all of my guitars with locking tuners. Hipshot open gear tuners are my favorite. They're smooth and stable and the open gears look cool. But the main reason I use hipshot, is for the universal mounting plate. I love that I don't have to alter the headstock no matter what type of tuners were originally on it. It makes installation take slightly longer than a normal string change. Hipshot makes high quality gear.

Best Locking Tuners out there!!!
Hipshot did a wonderful job on these tuners!! They're solid as a rock, tune smoothly, hold the strings well, and are the easiest tuners ever to install. They have patented mounting plates, and don't require any screws to mount them! The original tuners on vintage & classic guitars can be re-mounted without any evidence that they weren't there the whole time!! I use them in on all the Telecaster Style guitars I build, and they're easier than any others to mount. They also have changeable buttons, and one can get several sets of different styles for a reasonable price, and change them yourself. I have also put them on all my personal guitars as well.

Just what I NEEDED!
I’ve heard nothing but great things about Hipshot locking Tuners! I own a Schecter Hellraiser Avenger, and the stock tuners were old, and I had trouble maintaining tuning stability, so I decided to purchase these locking tuners, and they were super easy to install thanks to the universal mounting plate, so there is no need for additional drilling. All you need is a 10 mm wrench and you’re done I highly recommend these tuners because string changing is much more easier now. Hipshot tuners are the way to go. I may have to purchase more of these tuners for my other Guitars because I am never using anything else!

Love these Hipshot tuners
This was without a doubt the easiest and cleanest time I've had installing a set of tuners! The mounting plate worked perfectly to mount them to a MiM Strat neck in half the time, with no issues lining them up and no drilling. The tuning itself is easy, smooth, and accurate. I had another set of Hipshot locking tuners on a different guitar I built and found myself wanting them again on my main guitar - zero regrets there, these are every bit as good.

Nice tuning machines
The first set I received had a broken lock button; when I informed the seller, he quickly recommended to return it & get a replacement. The interaction was quick & efficient, I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again! The 2nd set was fine and works as described. The tuning machines look great & I like the locking feature (never had locking tuners before). Hopefully I will get many years out of them. The only reason for the 4 stars is because I wish each tuner had 2 screws (instead of 1) holding it down for added stability.

Drop-In Replacement For Squire Bullet Telecaster
I ordered these Hipshot locking tuners with the open-back design to replace the god-awful factory tuners that came on my Squier Bullet Telecaster. Considering they cost just a little more than half of what Hipshot charges for them on their website, I was worried they might be knockoffs or something. Turns out they're the real deal and well worth the price.Installation was a breeze. All it took was a 10mm wrench and five minutes. I used the supplied mounting plate rather than drill pilot holes to screw them in. They come with screws, if you want to go that route, and the backs of the tuners have the same footprint as the originals so they would cover up the peg holes for the original ones. The difference between these and the stock tuners is night and day. The old ones were sloppy and I had to kind of crank-tune the strings, i.e. go flat and then tune up, oops too sharp, go flat a little less then tune up, oops... Not with these guys. Every fraction of a turn is reflected in the tuning and it actually stays there. I chose the open-back design because I dug the look but also because they have an 18:1 gear ratio versus 15:1 for the closed-back design, so accuracy is a bit better.I'll definitely be installing another set of these tuners if (or more likely when, lol) I get another guitar.

These are now my "go to" tuners. 18:1, staggered, AND locking!
Bought these for a Dean NashVegas Hum Hum that had some tuning issues. Found that the "Tuner pin drill jig" I had purchased from Stewmac ($40.72) worked for the screw position needed for these tuners although this brand isn't mentioned as one of the ones it was designed for. I couldn't use the universal mounting plate included with the tuners because the head stock was too thick. And even though they are staggered, I decided to keep the string trees to help keep the string angle as consistent as possible. One of the problems with this guitar is the short distance between the nut and the low E string tuning post (common on six to a side guitars). But these tuners are smooth as silk and no "slop" in them. They may be out there but these are the only reasonably priced 18:1 ratio, staggered, locking tuners I could find. And the open gears look very cool and I like that I can use a light machine oil right on the gears (3-in-1 oil, etc.). And $40 seems like a lot for a jig but it's saved my butt and made my life easier many times. These are great tuners!
