100 intermediate parts for easy drafting practice. Gives you just a pic of the part and measurements, its perfect. Some parts are on level with CSWA, gonna look for an advanced book to practice for the CSWP at some point.

I have downloaded all the models per instructions in the book.It took me about an hour because they had to be downloaded one at a time. The models worked with SolidWorks 2018 student version that I used. The exercises ranged from simple to advanced, requiring user to use features such as sweeps lofts and curve guided patterns. I was able to complete quite a few of them within the allotted time. However some of them I was not able to complete because of missing dimensions and information. I had to open up the provided models and measure their features and look at their sketches. Many of the dimensions present in models were missing in the exercise instruction drawings. All in all, I enjoyed the exercises and I would have given it 5 Stars, if it weren't for the missing dimensions.Further observations 10-19-2018Exercises 86 through 98 are turned 90 degrees in the book, to make them readable I had to take their screenshots and turn them back 90 degrees.Some of the missing dimensions require assumptions of alignment. But some of these assumptions are so far-fetched, that they would never be accepted in a real engineering environment. Exercise 84 had missing dimensions to the point, that it could not be completed. Other than that, I still find the models structure quite creative, and most of them provided good modeling practice.

If you want to see how they create their version of the models, they only have them in Solidworks 2018 - no back revs. When I emailed them asking about it, this was literally the beginning of their response: "In regards to your email, I am pleased to inform you that the exercises/models of the “SOLIDWORKS Exercises: Learn by Practicing - Design 100 Real-World 3D Models by Practicing, 2nd Edition” textbook are created in SOLIDWORKS 2018 and cannot be opened in the lower version of SOLIDWORKS. You need to have SOLIDWORKS 2018 installed on your system to open these files."Why are they pleased about this? Also, the email I received confirming my log in account almost read like something written by someone who was then going to try to ask me to send them money in some foreign country.So the models in the book are okay, I guess, but not as useful as if I could see how they were created by someone who is supposedly a pro.

Well, there is not much to say. Quality of paper, printing and design is good. Not bad at all.Good models. I mean they are really good involving most of instruments required for solo-modeling (when no complicated assembly and parametric models required). If you look for average+ level these exercises will work good for you.There is room to make this book way better though: since it is intended for engineering students and professionals I believe the drawings must correspond to high educational standards. Appropriate sections must be given; dimensional chains must be correctly built; detail views must be clearly shown etc. It is important also to pay more attention how space of pages is used: there are large blank fields when drawings are quite small and hard to read. It is good idea to add list of mass for every exercise for self-check also.There is lack of such exercise books on the market however and I keenly wait for this series continued and improved)
