A complete meal and exercise plan! Excellent recipes, perfect in the kitchen using Kindle for iPhoneX!
This book will build you up to using heavier weights fairly quickly. I have followed "body for life" alternatively which by comparison focuses on more sets for fat-burning; abs diet focuses on fewer heavier sets which won't necessarily burn more calories but it does build me up faster. The big advantage of this abs-diet book is the meals. I would like to point out my favorites are the Turkey Chili recipe which takes cheap ground turkey and makes it taste like a buttery chili. I personally hate the taste of ground turkey, but this recipe literally transforms it into tasting like normal chili. Which is great because ground turkey is cheap and supposedly a healthier meat than fatty ground beef. The other recipe is the Peanut Butter smoothie which I used with Chocolate protein powder and Irish slow-cooked oatmeal. That was the best daily protein shake I'd every had and I never got tired of drinking it.I purchased the Kindle version of this book which I originally read on my iPad some 5 years ago. It is actually formatted very nicely for the iPad. Today I refer to the recipes in the book using the Kindle App for iPhoneX. The iPhoneX screen is large enough that I can clearly see the recipes in the book when cooking in the kitchen. This book is a great resource for anyone looking to 'get back on track' with their diet and exercise lifestyle. I highly recommend it!

I am a weight loss coach and I turn to this so much my book is dog-eared
While I was working on my Masters in Counseling I learned the phrase "It's not what you say but how you say it" and I think this book is a prime example of helping others make changes by saying it right, and backing it up with scientific proof. As a weight loss coach myself I know that there has to be verbal keys that unlock whatever is holding someone back from making the changes they need to in their life to be healthy...but sometimes explanations fall on deaf ears that aren't ready for change. However, this book changed ME and how I help others. It is packed with proof, guidance, whys and hows and I can't imagine it not making a change for any reader.I agree with the review that says don't get this in the Audio version. I have both a hard copy and a Kindle edition--the Kindle edition worked find but I prefer the hard copy because you do want to flip back and forth to the food groupings (you'll see what I mean when you read it) However, you can also do this by simply saving certain pages on your Kindle.I recommend this book over the woman's edition...not enough changes in that one and this is just concise and clear.I still limit caloric intake but if you pair that up with the way of eating that the abs diet goes into, you don't hit plateaus and your body works as a well-oiled machine to give you more energy and utilize fat stores for energy when you limit your caloric intake. This is the healthiest way of getting fit and, ironically, a fast way to do it as well. It's not a good read you put down, for me it was a lifestyle change. Oddly, it had other effects aside from just healthy weight loss with no plateaus...my face has broken out since I was a teenager and I'm now 43. After just a few weeks of this style of eating I had flawless skin. When I moved into a new house and had no time to eat right, my old issues of lowered energy, skin breakouts etc. came back...as they have everytime since then that I've gone off track. I rarely do go off track, however...there just is not need to. This provides for excellent meals and healthy living for LIFE rather than just a short term interim diet.Negatives: Easy to overeat if you forget to consider your calorie consumption as well. As long as you don't overdo the calories, this combo of foods is a great way to lose weight but he doesn't quite stress that calories in vs calories out is still the only way to lose weight best. In fast the largest weight loss study in the world was recently completed by the New England Journal of Medicine...took 8 years and thousands of people but proved calorie deficit is still the best way to lose weight, not limiting carbs etc as once thought. Old school thought is now accepted as medical science...if you take in less calories than you burn, your body uses fat to function and you lose weight BUT if you do that with these foods, you increase your burn, especially in your core. That too, has been proven.Highly recommend.

Not the best to fallow
Good book to start with to get some know how on your path but there are just a few things that the book tells you about eating that is false and the 1 thing was that you can eat as much fruits and vegetables you want but the reality and the truth is that you can not do that, they have lots of calories to.

GREAT GREAT BOOK FOR WEIGHT LOSS AND GETTING/STAYING IN SHAPE
a friend of mine lost 50 pounds using this. I lost 30. I can clearly say this is a great help. It explains not only WHAT decisions to make about food but WHY. this is invaluable….if you know why, it automatically helps you choose better on a daily basis. this is not really a diet but a way to understand how your body processes food and burns fat and how to live a healthier life. How to eat right, good nutrition. With the help of this book I lost 30 pounds and did not really have to go into a big exercise program or anything. SURE that helps and you will lose FASTER and they encourage that, but over time if you follow this book you will lose weight and be healthier even if you don't do that.

Confused about the low fats
The book overall is good, but the sections about eating fats confused me.First he talks about the 1980's war against fat, and he says they were wrong, and that fats are good because without fats you cannot get your fat soluble vitamins, A, D, E, and K. I agree. But, then he says saturated fats are bad, and saturated fats are in milk and meat which is also the best protein sources. So I just want to know why he is advocating low fat when he says low fat diets are bad. He does recommend olive oil, nuts and fish because of the fats in those. I believe that whole dairy is better for you than skim, because it's more natural and less processed. Altering natural foods is what got us into trouble in the first place.I do understand about choosing leaner meats because we fatten the cows by feeding them way too many grains and it increases their fat deposits, which is unnatural. Also he recommends eating lunch meat, and lunch meat has an awful lot of chemicals, unfortunately.I would have liked a recommendation of what to look for in a whey protein powder, because I had never purchased any before.

Brilliant!
I bought this book on the recommendation of a fellow facebook user. I had been running miles and miles daily but the final few pounds of fat just would not go.After doing the exercises and the different way of eating for just three weeks, the fat is going and I'm getting to the point now where I can see my muscles for the first time in 30 years! I'm standing up straight, head up, body feels full of energy and I'm feeling great. I'm actually giving my body what it needs now, out with the processed sugars and carbs, in with the good whole foods we are designed to eat.I can't recommend this book highly enough, stick with it and you'll never regret it. Best 1p I have ever spent!

Its not an overly big improvement on the original book, while it does offer some great advice a lot of time is spent on other peoples success stories and a rather shallow recipe section, I would have much preferred it the other way round. If you're looking to improve your eating habits and eat a much leaner, cleaner diet this could be the starting point for you. It gives a lot of insight as to the reasons why different foods react differently with your body and advises on what you should eat and when.Unfortunately for me its 6 meals a day approach doesn't fit around my lifestyle (12 hour days with only time for 1 meal while at work).

A practical guide to suit busy lifestyle
The best thing about this book (in my view) is practicality of different recipes that suit a busy lifestyle. The book is written with an assumption that "people are busy and they do not have an army of cooks with them!" which is often ignored in many other books on this subject.I have been using the protein shakes with 5-6 power ingredients for more than 2 months now. It takes less than 20 minutes from start to finish, i.e., from entering the kitchen to washing up the grinder, which makes it a very practical recipe for breakfast. The protein-shake is very healthy and has a filling effect (it stays for a while in your stomach, before you feel hungry again). Following this book, I changed other eating habits as well and without any exercise I lost 3 KG and I am sure with a little more effort I could have lost even more. Thanks David, your efforts are appreciated.

Not doable due to American ingredients
Most of the recipes in here, you won't find the ingredients in British supermarkets. It's a pity, and the recipes do sound good & it certainly reads like they know what they're talking about but if you can't get the foods it's useless to us over here. Please - bring out a UK edition, once you've been around the big 3 main supermarkets & seen what is available.
