Summary: One too many issues with this unit. This switch has several limitations and is not particularly stable. After repetitive headaches, I am replacing a brand new one with another vendor... A more trustworthy one. The will generate me a loss of 400 EUR, but that's the price I am willing to pay to get rid of Netgear.Details: After an extensive evaluation, I have identified key limitations in the device, particularly: - Poor software interface; compared to other vendors, with this model the adm spends (over) twice the time to do anything - OS upgrades are clumsy and require external tools to identify when the software upload has finished. - OS upgrade does not confirm image integrity. You can easily boot up the machine with an corrupt OS and everything will look normal... until it isn't. - SFP handling does not comply with what is advertised or SFP specs itself. For instance, a Netgear SFP BiDi does not work, although it is a genuine Netgear. - No user segmentation; the device has only a password. And the logon page clearly identifies the device - Micro USB port on the front is not for CLI/console access. There is no console access whatsoever. - ... And many other technical issues, making it viable for home use only. No serious company should accept something with such poor quality and high price. On top of the device, the vendor is also a liability. In a nutshell, after a month of short and meaningless replies from Netgear's L2 Support, they simply stopped answering and forcefully closed a support ticket, without my consent nor any real resolution. The company cannot be trusted - their after sales cannot be trusted - and thus I strongly advise you only use it for non-professional needs.
