Scripts used by Tolkien
A short, succinct, and very helpful overview of the different scripts used in Tolkien's books. Easy to understand and follow. Surprisingly not hard.

Great book, really helpful! Good for LOTR or Hobbit fans who want to learn the writing of Middle-Earth.
The questions were a little weird to answer, as it was predictable as in I bought it to learn the writing of middle earth and I did, but also that it was full of surprises with learning it...eh, anyways, time for the review. So, basically this was a great product if you are trying to learn the different writings of Middle-Earth.Not only does it teach you how to write it and read it, but it teaches multiple different types, and, at the end (or close to the end) it walks you through downloading Rune Fonts, which is amazing for someone like me who is obsessed with fonts!

interesting background reading for fans of Tolkien
For fans of the Tolkien books this offers a detailed explanation for the runes and languages that are written about in the books.

Nice insight into the novels
Small reference that details all of the instances of other language use in the novels and assists with translation. Rather detailed entries about the use of dwarvish language as well as elvish and even some black speech. Worth the cost if you are into language or want a more detailed understanding of the source material.

This one is better for figuring out how to use dwarf or elf ...
I have two books on Tolkien's languages. This one is better for figuring out how to use dwarf or elf alphabets(runes and Tengwar) to write in English. It is specifically about the different alphabets and has many straight-forward charts, examples, and explanations. It even suggests websites to obtain rune and Tengwar fonts. This book does not help with translating into dwarf or elf languages (Sindarin, for example).

Easy to understand
Well, the critique of the plot really doesn't apply to this book as it is about learning to write in elvish script. Very well done. Easy to understand.

Intelligent and engaging troduction to the subject. Five stars
Great intelligent and accessible introduction to Elvish and Tolkein's extensive work on language and writing systems. The author has presented his subject in an easy engaging manor with some useful exercises for the reader. Having used and enjoyed the kindle version i bought the papedback so I could dip into the author's very useful tables on the Tengwar while browsing my Sindarin and Quenya dictionaries, Since the kindal edition is as well presented as the paperback and I would recommend either. The author has some good references for further reading and some sign posting to useful websites. Highly recommended. Good job!

Perfect for my requirements :D
Only just dipping into it, but it looks very interesting and helpful. Smaller than I was expecting, don't know why.To be honest I bought it to assist me in pyrograving a renovated acoustic guitar, so I'm not especially interested in the details of the various languages, but it seems very helpful in how the symbols relate to English letters, as well as how they all go together (however, I have noticed that on line there is some dispute as to where vowels go in elvish... above leading or following consonants)
