Holistic Select Natural Dry Small Breed Puppy Food, Anchovy, Sardine & Chicken, 6-Pound Bag

I've been feeding my little fur babies some rather expensive food. We've been having to make some financial cut backs but we didn't want cut back on quality. I have yorkies both under a year so I need the small breed for puppies. In order to make sure the dogs get all the nutrition necessary I've learned to read labels. This food had everything that I was looking for and didn't have any of the stuff these small breeds digestive doesn't handle very well.When we received this package I was very excited about feeding this to my dogs This food is about half the cost of what we have been feeding our dogs and with the added focus on prebiotics, probiotics and added fibers, enzymes and botanicals, I felt confident that I was selected a good food for my fur babiesWhy the three stars? My babies won't eat this!. I put this down for two meals and they refused to eat it. I had to feed them. Their dinner usually is something that I make for them. The next day I did the same served this (fresh of course). The first two meals I served the dry food, they still did not eat it. I served their usual dinner, but mixed this in it. They both picked out this food and would not eat. Next day i tried mixing the food with some cooked eggs for breakfast, gravy at lunch... still refused to eat it. I offered them dry food for dinner. They did not get the cooked food. Any one with small breed dogs know that you can not risk them going hungry too long because they are prone to low glucose issues. I left the dinner bowl down over night and they still did not eat this food. I'm sorry to say my little dogs don't like this...

When I got my second dog I started becoming aware of the horrible ingredients in standard dog food and wanted to give my dogs better quality food. I went to a local store that only sells high quality food and was able to take samples of several kinds of dry food to see which brand my dogs would prefer. I chose foods that did not have grains and that were formulated for small dogs. After selecting my samples, this one was my favorite or at least one of my top two and I noticed that the size of the food pellets was by far the smallest, which makes a big difference when you have tiny Chihuahuas. Over the next week I gave my dogs each of the different foods. Some they seemed ok with and others they wouldn't touch. They seemed to eat the most of this brand and even preferred it to their wet food (which didn't have the same quality ingredients). I have tried once or twice through the years to give them different types of dry food and they like this one better. They also seem to have a much easier time eating it as well, and one of them can still eat it even though he is only 5 pounds and only has a few teeth left. The fact that this is available on Amazon and you can add it to subscribe and save makes it that much better for me and the salmon in it adds more nutrients that can only improve your dog's health.

Transitioned my new puppy to this from the "professional" brand the breeder was feeding him. I found that it had almost exactly the same nutritional values as the "pro" food at a slightly lower price. My puppy seems to like the taste of this better and I was already feeding an adult version of this to my other dog. The kibble is very small, perfect for my 5 pound Norwich Terrier puppy. He eats it easily and digests it well. I've found Holistic Select to be a good value for the price: very high nutritional value, natural ingredients and apparently great taste! Love that it is available with prime shipping, just wish I could get this on subscribe & save.

I read the reviews on this product and purchased it for our new little puppy. And Day 1 she started eating it without any problem switching from the breeders food. Now 7 months later she is still enjoying her food and we like that she is eating healthy food! And honestly ...some people say it is expensive ...but for the small amount our puppy eats ...it is really not that much to know she is getting healthy food! She is our family and she deserves the best!!

My Coton de Tulears aren't crazy about it, but it's so good for them! Small bites for their little mouths is a plus. I usually just sprinkle some ground Parmesan cheese to entice them a bit. They have done well with this food and I plan on trying other flavors once they are old enough!

After doing a ton of research on the internet and seeing Holistic Select's rating on DogFoodAdvisor.com I bought this Small Breed Puppy food for my Chi Mix thinking it would be among the best stuff out there. Unfortunately I was wrong. This food was making her stools extremely soft (Which is a sign of high amounts of unabsorbable fat content) and very smelly (sign of low quality ingredients). Not to mention she was throwing up about twice a month. I slowly transitioned her to Wellness Complete Health Small Breed Puppy Formula & all the negative symptoms have since gone away.

Our miniature dachshund puppy loves this food. The kibble is small and easy for him to chew. When we brought him home, he preferred this to the puppy chow the breeder gave us. He picked this out of the bowl and ate it when we were trying to mix them to get him off of the old stuff. I love that it's made well and the company is reputable.

Good kibbles and i liked the ingredients but my tiny 6 months Maltese is finding hard to chew these kibbles and not eating unless soaked in water

Highly recommended.I've tried many different GOOD high quality brands of food & supplements in general as I have a house of 5 rescue dogs all with disabilities & special needs. All require a little something different when it comes to their dietary needs... only 1 of my 5 cannot eat Holistic Select due to no fault of the physical food itself - all due to my dogs special needs! Anywho, our newest member is a small special needs chihuahua puppy I decided to switch her to this good simply because I love this brand, I'm constantly recommending this brand to others, & I trust this brand... not to mention it's just easier to order products of the same brand you're already ordering in stores if it's not available through Amazon at that specific time. (P.s. for anyone wondering, I order them through Global Pet Foods if it's not available here! - just go to the front & ask to place an order!)Anywho,This is my first time physically using this particular product from this company & I must admit, it met all my expectations & than some!The company alone (since I use 3 different "flavors" & types of their foods) is now in my top 3 favorite current brands.

Reasonable price - Seems very difficult to keep in stock.Puppy loves the food and gores crazy over it
