In a splashy new twist, Overboard focuses on Leonardo (EUGENIO DERBEZ), a selfish, spoiled, rich playboy from Mexico s richest family and Kate (ANNA FARIS) , a working class single mom of three hired to clean Leonardo s luxury yacht. After unjustly firing Kate and refusing to pay her, Leonardo falls overboard when partying too hard and wakes up on the Oregon coast with amnesia. Kate shows up at the hospital and, to get payback, convinces Leonardo he is her husband and puts him to work for the first time in his life. At first miserable and inept, Leonardo slowly settles in. Eventually he earns the respect of his new family and co-workers. But, with Leonardo s billionaire family hot on their trail and the possibility of his memory returning at any moment, will their new family last or will Leonardo finally put the clues together and leave them for good?

A warm and friendly movie
Great film which was a remake that originally cast Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. A much needed lighthearted watch...

Perfect Complement/Compliment to the original. I'm Overboard about both.
This is a review of the blu-ray “Overboard” starring Anna Faris, Eugenio Derbez, Eva Longoria, Swoosie Kurtz, and Emily Maddison. This has to be stated because I am sure Amazon will apply it to both versions.(They haven't 26/03/23, massive surprise!)Goldie Hawn doesn't like this film. Much as it pains me to say so, I cannot agree with her.Goldie quite naturally feels that the original, in which she starred with Kurt Russell, is sufficient unto itself, iconic, and neither needs nor requires a re-make.If this were a simple direct re-make she would be quite right, and I, an adoring fan of hers for 55 years, would be the first to agree with her. But, of course, this is not a simple re-make. It is a reinterpretation, and a direct and deliberate homage to the original, which is referenced many times in the film.Besides the roles of sexes being reversed there are many other changes made to the story to accommodate the differences necessitated. These I find to be witty and ingenious. I do not mention them for obvious reasons. The film is strong enough to stand on its own, but I am sure that it would be more appreciated if the original from 1987 were seen first. If not first, then afterwards would do nearly as well.Oh, very well, I am trying to get you to see the original if you have not already done so, or even if you have. The blu-ray version that I bought is region 1 or A, and requires an all region player to play it in the United Kingdom. There is at least one version for sale on Amazon (26/03/23), that appears to originate in Germany, which should play on a region 2 or B in the United Kingdom, and it's cheaper! I haven't seen it yet, so cannot vouch for its quality, but all things being equal, it should be OK.30/03/23. it is!

Fine but not as funny as the original. Some of it is in Spanish.
I watched the 1987 version with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell a couple of weeks ago and liked it a lot, so I decided to give the gender-swapped remake a try. Overall it was OK and I don't regret watching it, but it wasn't as funny as the original. The plot is broadly similar and the actors are decent and have good chemistry together. One strange choice was that about a quarter of the dialogue is in Spanish, so unless you are bilingual it's necessary to watch it with subtitles on.
