I bought this product to stream HDMI video around the house and view it with VLC. It works very well for that purpose, although it can do much more. Audio and video quality is great. The unit is in a metal case with a solid build. I like the ease of the web-based settings which provide a lot of control over the encoder and the various streams. It is very straightforward to set up - I did not even read the manual, although I recommend that you do. You should definitely understand what this unit is for before buying, but if you need a high quality encoder this is a great choice.

Purchased this unit for church streaming. If you are comfortable with streaming concepts and traditional settings the configuration is quick and pretty easy. Newbies might feel overwhelmed at first. For price point this has been a great device. I contacted tech support to help customize the device (custom graphic when there is no video source). Linda was great with expected 24 hour communication cycles. She modified the firmware, sent a new file, then I uploaded to the device. Perfect.Currently the HDMI input is sourced by a HDMI analog switch with a camera and a media player. When switching back and forth between sources there is only about a 1 second transition (which shows the custom graphic) and the device quickly resolves and negotiates the HDMI input settings. Fantastic!

You need to have a background in networking and streaming to use this with ease. There is a lot of documentation included, but previous experience with streaming encoders is recommended. That being said, this device is quite reliable and VERY easy to use once setup properly. It seems to be reliable for 24/7 use as well. We are replacing a $4,000 encoder with this for now and have had good results so far. We are sending to a remote CDN and FB with ease.

This really is an affordable, capable and versatile video encoder! I am using HLS to push HD video to multiple end points. Recently learned about the API, thanks to another review, I cannot wait to implement some automation. I have interacted with Linda for support (firmware and API docs), which has been pleasant and responsive. If I had to change anything, it would be the addition of POE and self service downloads of firmware and documentation.

I wanted to livestream without using my computer to an rtmp site without fuss or complication. I was a bit intimidated when I first got the box - the instructions were minimal but set up was simple and when I ran into a small tweak that I couldn't resolve myself, Linda was prompt and superhelpful.
