My Dwarf Rabbit (My Pet Series) Paperback – October 12, 2007

I have looked through several other books on rabbits, and for the most part the information that you find is very technical, impersonal, and "informative." This is not a bad thing...in fact, the other rabbit book that I own has a lot of very good information about rabbit health, diet, and breeding. But "My Dwarf Rabbit" by Monika Wegler is an amazing and unique resource on keeping rabbits as loving, beloved pets. She talks about her own experiences with rabbits and gives wonderful advice. She provides lists of toys to create or purchase for your bunnies...including a sandbox, which I had never heard of before this and my bunny absolutely adores! She talks about understanding and correcting behavior, from very shy rabbits to aggressive little tricksters. I have never owned a rabbit before, and I was extremely nervous about it...but now I have a rabbit that follows me from room to room and hops up on my lap the minute I sit down, ready to be cuddled and eat treats out of my hand. I plan on using this book as a resource for toy and play ideas for years to come. By all means, purchase other books and look at other resources for the technical aspects of owning a rabbit...but if you plan on having a little fuzzy companion or two who will love you and play with you, look into getting this book!

Found this book at the local pet store near and my kids loved for informative reading and pictures about dwarf rabbits since we now own one. The pet store had the book at retail price $16.95. I asked them to match Amazons price of $11.00 and they said NOPE!! I turned around and pulled it up on my app and ordered it in seconds and got it in one day. Worth waiting for because my kids are constantly telling me facts about our rabbit even I didn't know. Excellent book for young and older readers. And thanks Amazon again for pricing it nicely.

This is a very good book that everyone planning to get a dwarf rabbit should get. When other books say things like rabbits need [amount of something], the dwarf rabbit person has to remember that this means the amount that a standard-sized rabbit needs. That's not a problem with this book. And there are pictures of most of the dwarf breeds that are helpful in finding the breed you like. Another nice feature for the new owner is a list of fresh foods by whether they are highly recommended, recommended, OK, no-no's [including spinach], or poisonous.However, the author is a bit opinionated on things, such as that you should always own more than one rabbit. Some people don't have the room & I don't think first-time owners should have to deal with 2 right away. And because she deals only with numerous rabbits at a time, she recommends very elaborate setups. Especially problematic is that the book says rabbits need several vaccinations, but this isn't true in the US the way it is in Europe. The publisher is in the US, so they should have had an American rabbit expert read the translation from German & make appropriate modifications.

This book covers a lot of topics regarding a bunny's health & well being. Excellent book.

I found that some of the information was useful but some of it was just opinion and a lot of it was bias information from the authors personal rabbits, I do like some stories of experience but I thought a lot of it was "I did this, so it's true". The information on rabbit health and disease was far from helpful, I did read it all, but when I came to having actual health problems there wasn't much in there that helped!

I bought this book when I first adopted my dwarf bunny. It has been very helpful and informative on the basic care for all rabbits, not just dwarfs. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially first-time bunny parents!

This book goes above and beyond the practical ideas of caring for your bunnies. Many great ideas for keeping them entertained. I like the information concerning the dietetic aspects of caring for the rabbits.

This is my favourite Dwarf Rabbit book. Good information. Good photos. Again, it's not an encyclopedia but additional information can be found on the internet.
