The little Whirlwind that dried up the wet storm...
I use a 5-gallon pressure tank hooked up to a DeWalt compressor for curing silicone molds, then for casting urethane/resin parts from the molds. The pressure tank I use is actually billed as a paint tank for use with an airbrush sprayer attachment. Here's a link should anyone care to view it. California Air Tools 365B 5-Gallon Pressure Pot Yes, it's a paint tank, but more and more these days, a lot of people are converting these tanks for use in mold-making and casting of subsequent resin parts. There are at least a couple dozen models of this kind of paint tank available at Amazon, and most reviews give witness to how many people rely on paint tanks to pressure-cure silicone and urethane. But we are all groping for answers when we encounter problems of any kind as there is little to nothing written anywhere on the subject. Like, for instance, what do you do if and when water or moisture start building up inside the tank? There's quite a bit to be read about how to install a moisture trap between your hose and your spraygun or between your hose and, say, a sand-blaster attachment. But how do you use a moisture trap when you're only using the tank itself,-- sans any attachment? After much exasperation and searching, finally I decided to buy one of these "air filter" puppies and install it between my hose and the tank itself. I settled on the DeVilbiss over other brands at Amazon because of DV's impeccable reputation. They did not disappoint. That is SO putting it mildly.I could not have dreamed this black ball of hard acrylic would be such a lifesaver for my purposes. Truth is, I expected it to blow off and maybe take the hose and tank lid (maybe even a wall or rafter) with it once the gauge started to rise past 10psi. But I was desperate and ready to try anything short of curing without a pressure tank. When I turned on the compressor though, I did have the good sense to hightail it the hell away from the tank just in case of any kind of explosion. Been there, done that, lived to tell, once is enough.Speaking of which, I was resigned to a diminution in pressure and was fully prepared to be satisfied with 20-30 psi less than I consider to be optimum if the thing worked *at all* at the job of reducing moisture inside the tank. And here is the good news: It works. It keeps my tank, my molds, and my casts BONE DRY. And as a bonus, it does not effect the pressure even so much as 1 psi-ota.My husband, white-collar wall-streetian type A personality that he is, was kind enough to install the DeVilbiss for me per my suggestion as to where I believed it should go (and why). Which was much appreciated as he is stronger at tightening tasks. He promised to say an avé over my grave should it come to that. I promised to hold him blameless for all eternity if this put any kind of end to my mold-making career. And/or my present incarnation. But I've lived to tell. It may well be that any brand of this device would have worked just as well. But the DeVilbiss is the brand I used. And when it ever requires replacing, another DeVilbiss is the brand I'll continue to use (I already have one spare as I bought this 2-pack). I'm so elated over how perfectly it solved what had become a seriously bad problem for me that I feel if I had to replace the whirlwind daily, that is what I'd do to keep my tank and my molds dry. I'm doubting it will come to that, but I'm just saying... it's THAT great at what it does. Really.

Very good items and can use these several times when painting without breaking off like the others do ! Some of the others don't give you a warning and break off and leave you in a bind when painting if not careful ! I will use these all the time now !!!

By far the best over the Tekton and Neiko...
I tried the Tekton and Neiko air/water seperator and the Whirlwind clearly was the best at CFM. The Whirlwind showed almost no pressure drop through my HVLP gun while the Tekton and Neiko blocked so much air that my HVLP was almost not useable. The tests done by DeVilbiss demonstrated the Whirlwind to be clearly superior as well, and my findings confirm this. The Tekton and Neiko units might be fine for the occasional airing up of a tire or pool floaters, but for serious spray gun or air tool work they just block too much air to be reliable. The primary reason I tried the Whirlwind was because of the DeVilbiss name which always equates to first rate quality. And boy was I right. Buy the DeVilbiss Whirlwind and don't look back. Oh yeah, Made in USA...kd

Lifesavers
These are life, or at least paint, savers. My single stage compressor pumps out a lot of water, especially on humid days. These soak it up before it gets into the gun. Same for oil too. Worth every penny to save a paint job.

Good little separator, Not a miracle worker
Worked good. Had a LOT of water in the system and some of it made it past these and onto the car but after taking some better precautions the rest of the job turned out great. Price was good and seem to be better made than the cheaper options.
